Star Trek Episode Countdown
Synopsis: Sisko teams up with the former Maquis leader Micheal Eddington to stop Maquis missles on route to Cardassia, in order to avoid a war with the Dominion.
Over All:
A somewhat interesting episode, which is more interesting for
the background they give on the destruction of the Maquis than the plot.
Pros:
- This is probably one of the best Deep Space Nine episode about
the Maquis, other Deep Space Nine episodes were always to vague about the Maquis. And of course this is the first episode concerning the Maquis after Cardassia joined the Dominion in "By Inferno's Light". In Dukat's speech he stated that no Maquis base within Cardassain space will be left standing. This is the first time we hear about the Maquis after that, and we discover that the Maquis has been totally wiped out by the Jem'hadar. I think Deep Space Nine should have went into better detail earlier but this episode makes up for it.
- It goes into some detail about why Cardassia joined the Dominion, which is, they were getting they but kicked by the Klingons and the Maquis,
- The Adversoral relationship between Eddington and Sisko is very interesting in this episode unlike in "For the Uniform".
Cons:
- Its seems ridiculous to me that Sisko is so worried about the
Maquis missles starting a war with the Dominion, but it happens any way, and shortly after. Even in earlier episodes they seem to know that war is emment. It seems to me a missle attack against Cardassia would be a good thing considering they went into a full scale war several months later.
- The side plot with Nog trying to get respect from the Klingons, this episode could've really done without it. This episode was way too serious for a stupid side plot like that.
