| WHAT IS REAL LOVE? (continued) If this is the most important rule, then Christianity and following Christ could be summed up as being based on love. Also consider the fact that it is because God loved us so much that He sent His Son to die for us, and even when we grieve Him, He still loves us. The New Testament church has salvation, whereas people of the Old Testament had to look forward to the perfect sacrifice that would come. If they took their eyes off of that goal, they were condemned, because they were still under the law and not Christ's Blood. We are blessed because we are under the Blood, and once we have accepted that Blood, we are forever covered. When we stray off the straight and narrow, our loving Father corrects us, and that is amazing. Us, a lowly excuse of anything compared to God, are still loved and corrected even when we curse Him and His loving kindness. Even after looking at God, and His love for us, we too often seem to forget the obvious fact that we are not like that. People fall in and out of love every other week, and they mess with other Christian's hearts, yet I wonder how we would feel if God came to us and promised us Salvation, and gave us a book of beautiful poetry, and said how much He loved us. Then a week later, we get in a small argument, and we mess up, and He takes all He has given us back. People aren't perfect, yet God is. Humans can stop loving someone when there is a disagreement, but God, who is far superior to us, will forgive us and love us no matter what. Love is so far beyond our understanding, that too often we picture love being a guy and a girl in an intimate physical relationship. Yet we seem to miss the point that love is a spiritual thing, and is based on how hard someone tries. I'm glad that God loves my soul, and my attempts to serve Him. If He always expected me to look perfect, or stopped loving me if I got paralyzed, it would be practically unbearable and life would be utterly pointless. If God only loved perfection, and not an effort towards it, I would be utterly lost. No one is perfect, but that is the reason He loves us when we try to be. Thank God that He loves us no matter what, and I pray that you might try to love others soul's, and appreciate their efforts to do right, rather than looking at anything else. That is true, unstoppable, unceasing love. >First Page< What is Real Love (First Page) |
