Tannin
Schwartzstein
Bone Talk: Scavengers Medicine. As any beginners book on Neo-Pagan Witchcraft will tell you, making and preparing your own magical tools is both a powerful and empowering experience. Aside from making such items as wands from scratch, many authors will recommend "reconditioning" items found at yardsales, and fewer still will point the seeker towards what others simply throw away (All Hail Score, Goddess of Trashpicking!). A few of us are led a few steps further into the Goddess recycling program. Sadly, many of Her furred and feathered children meet their demise on the labrynth of asphalt that covers her back. Rather than see our fellow creatures mortal forms wasted, we can utilize "scavengers medicine" (such as Raven, Vulture, Coyote and Rat) to both build our spiritual tools and honor the animals from which we reap these treasures. In this workshop, author and craftsperson Tannin Schwartzstein will discuss and instruct on the art of harvesting, preserving and preparing bones, feathers, and claws from roadkill. She will also talk about the nature and potency of scavenger energies, where life and death converge. (NOT a workshop for the squeamish.)
