Emergency management has become of great interest and importance to me. It meant nothing to me until my son Michael introduced me and involved me as a volunteer in 1996. At that time, the Sanford EMA was basicly acting as a Fire-Police unit and maintaining a mass feeding mobile unit.
Time has changed many things including SEMA. The mobile feeding unit has been returned to York County where it originated from, SEMA is no longer responsible for Fire-Police duties, and the volunteer staff has been disbanded.
Now the focus is on PREPAREDNESS. The goal is to make our community as SAFE as possible and prepare for whatever nature or man and his technology brings our way. This is the focus of our Government from local, county, state and federal levels working together. |
