| Three Former Staten Island Yankees Invited to Spring Training 1/26/01 David Parrish, David Walling, and Omar Fuentes were among 22 non-roster players invited to spring traing next month in Tampa, Fla. Parrish, a 22-year old catcher, was the Yankees' top draft choice in last year's amateur draft. He batted .240 with 4 homeruns and 29 RBI for the Baby Bombers last season. Walling, the Yankees top draft choice in the 1999 amateur draft, collected 12 wins last year while splitting time at Class- A Tampa and Class-AA Norwich. Fuentes, like Walling, was a member of the 1999 Staten Island Yankees. The 20-year old catcher was signed by the Yankees as a free agent in 1996. |
