Selma Lagerl�f (1858-1940), de bekende Zweedse schrijfster. Zij schreef `Nils Holgerssons wonderbare reis door Zweden', wat bedoeld was als een topografie leerboek voor Zweden. Il y a Selma en Californie, la capitale mondiale du raisin sec. C'est en fait pas tres loin d'ou j'habite. 
Il y a Selma en Alabama, une ville au passe riche. Ville sudiste pendant la guerre civile, et dans les annees 60 une ville qui a connu la lute pour le droit de vote (cf la marche de Selma a Montgomery "bloody sunday" de 1965 avec Martin Luther King)
Et puis il y a aussi Selma au Texas, et Selma en Caroline du Nord.

There is Selma, California, the raisin capital of the world. Actually not too far from where I live.
There is Selma, Alabama, a historical city. It was the South outpost during the Civil War, and in the 60s it was at the center of the civil right movement (cf the "bloody Sunday" walk from Selma to Montgomery in 1965 led by Martin Luther King)
And there is also Selma, Texas, and Selma, North Carolina.
