Do you love peanuts? ....well I have been boiling peanuts for 20 years...it's a lot better than buying them already boiled...

Here is how you boil you own peanuts, it's really easy...

first off you need to get a 4 quart pressure cooker by Mirro this can be found at Walmart.              They have  4 quart for $29.00 or you can go to thier website and order a 6 quart for $59.97

once you have you pressure cooker...

buy fresh green peanuts from the produce dept they can run anywhere $1. 50 to $1.97 a pound.

rinse your peanuts in running tap water before putting them in the pan...a 4 quart will hold 1 to 3 pounds of  fresh green
peanuts.  1 pound or 3 pounds will cook the same lenght of time.

after pouring the peanuts into the pan fill it up with water untill it leaves about one inch from the rim of the pan.  (leave the shells on them)

then pour about 1/2 box of salt then stir it  at once...

check the gasket on the lid I always take the gasket out and stretch it a little then place it back on the lid.

now you are ready to put the lid on it make sure it is locked....then put the topper on the spout on the top of the lid.

now turn your burner on to number 8 if you have an electric stove.

wait about 20- 30 min til starts to jiggle then turn it down to between 5 and 6 let it continue cooking for 30 min...

once the thirty min is up slowly  pick up the pressure cooker DO NOT take the lid off yet...or you'll be  sorry....place the pressure cooker in the sink run cool tap water over the lid keep running water over it til you hear the pressure go down and the little stick goes down this takes about 30 sec...then return it back to the stove  open the lid there you have a great pan of peanuts...the water will be darker this is nothing to be concern about this is very normal.

Keep the peanuts in the water if you want to store them put them in the refrigerator for longer storage they are good cold too.

You can freeze boiled peanuts in zipper bags they will keep for months.
If you do not want to use a pressure cooker you can use a regular pan...pour the peanuts in the pan fill water to cover peanuts, then add half box of salt bring to high boiling then reduce the heat to about 6 let cook for 3 to 4 hours.

The pressure cooking method brings out much more flavor
...
Tips for buying peanuts you should try to avoid buying peanuts if there is more darker peanuts then the lighter color ones, if they feel slimy do not buy them...it's normal if they are damp....this is what keeps them fresh.  Keep them in your refrigerator until you are ready to boil them.
My daughters boyfreind originally came from New York...he has never eaten boil peanuts until he tried them at my house he has since then become addicted to them...
