Chapter Two - Nathan
The engine of the plane shut down and wheeled to a stop in front of the airport
terminal. Nathan pulled his goose-down feather filled jacket around him as he
walked down the steps of his father's private jet into a cold winter
afternoon. He climbed into the waiting chauffeured vehicle and pulled a
newspaper out from under his arm while other people unloaded Nathan's
Italian luggage. The vehicle drove through the city streets and headed for
the large neo-classical multistoried mansion that was home.
Nathan entered the house and went straight to his room to make a call. The
person he wanted was not where they should of been and he slammed the phone
down before letting loose with several expletives. How dare she not be home
when he arrived back into town. Not even gone for two weeks and already she
was running back to him, to that other guy. After everything they had been
through together Piper was leaving him for a second time to go with someone
who couldn't afford to go to College without a Scholarship. The nerve of
her. How dare she do this to Nathaniel Dillon!
His sister came running into his room from down the hall. Nathan looked up at
her and cringed as she explained about what her boyfriend had down wrong this
week. Nathan was amazed that Madeline (his sister) would lower her standards
so far to even consider dating someone outside their very carefully moulded
circle. Maybe, he sighed, she had been corrupted by all those cheesy movies
etc. This guy was just after Madeline's money. Of that he was sure. Those
same movies that had turned his Piper into a two-bit piece of trash.
