Hmmm... So, it's week TWO. What can I say but thank God IT IS NOT WEDNESDAY. If it was, God knows that I would probably be crying my eyes out or stabbing someone with a pencil.. anywayz, let me tell you how my week went. As I informed you last week, it's all about the jobs. So last week, I checked out monster.com and found this ad placed by an ad agency looking for people to become entry level managers and a bunch of other stuff.... what caught my eye was "no experience necessary," "recent college grad" and "Atlanta." Well, I hear Atlanta is a good place to live, and I haven't got any experience so I called them up. I asked the guy about the job and he said "We r training employees to be managers of branches of our ad agency. Our clientel include major sportsmen, restuarants blah blah blah." Sounded amazing. I told the guy I wasn't currently in ATL but promised to be there at the interview the following week. That was that. So this week, I carried my big ass to ATL. Luckily, I didn't have to stay at a hotel cos my old high school friend jujuan lives there. The whole time I'm imagining I'm Vivica A Fox in "Two can play that game" you know, an Ad exec, stylish, having the time of my life. So I get to the agency at around 12noon... I see about 5 other females professionally dressed, waiting to be interviewed. My resume got wet on the plane ride so I went across the street to make a copy of it. The guy there said something about the ad agency "selling office supply" but I ignored it. He seemed like a hater to me. Anywayz, I get to the interview, typical questions are asked and then the guy asks me when next I would be available for an interview if they requested another. I said ASAP. He explained that the second interview would require my learning the ropes and staying with them for the whole day... sounded fine to me. He promised to call me later that evening to inform me of their decision to either request a second interview or not. At around 6pm, Steve calls me and I get called back. I'm estatic. So the next day, I get to their office at around 8:45am... I see other girls that have also been called back. Downstairs, I hear screaming and chanting. The receptionist explains that someone's being promoted. At around 9:15am, Steve assigns me to an employee Jeff and explains that I shall be hanging out with Jeff the whole day and he shall be evaluating me. So at around 9:45, Jeff, 2 other employees and I head out to Blairsville.. the whole time, the employees grill me about advertising and advertising related issues. I kept trying to find out more about the position but they informed me that Jeff would lay out the plan during lunch. So in a few words "I was clueless," so I just went with the flow. 2 hours later we arrive in Blairsville. I hear Jeff and Gordon(on of the other employees) talking... Jeff says "You take this side, I take the other." Huh?!?!? I was still in denial till we entered the first business and I heard Jeff say "I'm a representative of Quills and I would like to speak to your manager about your office supplies." YEP -the job is of a door-to-door salesman. GOD FORBID! I didn't attend college to be walking around businesses making cold calls... we didn't get back till around 6pm. Needless to say, I gave that mutherfucker Steve a piece of my mind and I hope he rots in HELL! Can you believe that I wasted my money on that shit? And you know I didn't get paid for the 10 hours I was with their 'team.' What can I say? You live and learn...
