1. hey shawn! i finally get a chance to�interview you! you are a big partner for me and my webzine! you help me out alot with my zine. tell us brief history of�your band! why did this inhuman sick guttural band start?
SEIJI!! We have been bros for a long time man!! I'd like to first of all thank you for the support the past few years. You are truely a sick man!! Thanks also for this interview. A chance to be in your sick webzine bro!! And as for the big partner in your zine, well, i don't do alot for you bro. Just post when i'm told to. haha. You and Anthony do the mother load. So thanks for making my job easy guys.
Inhuman Dissiliency actually started off as a band called Perpetual Dismemberment back in early 2002. PD just had a hell of a time getting things rolling internally. So Todd and I decided to basically rebuild from scratch. Death metal drummers are a big problem to find in our area here so we figured til we found one, we'd get a drum machine. Just to get started. Shortly after getting the drum machine, Inhuman Dissiliency was on its way. Right from the beginning we had material we wanted to use. So getting this band going was never a problem. We never figured on it getting so much attention though. Fucking amasing how many people tuned in to listen to us play our shit. Thanks to everyone for listening!! We really appreciate it.
Now, as for our bands reason for being....Well its like this, there just isn't a whole lot of death metal in these parts. So we got this band together simply to open the door in our area. Well thats what we hoped to do. Figured if someone heard it for the first time, they might actually dig it and start listening to more. Or maybe even go as far as starting their own project! Thats basically it. Other then that, we just simply love brutal death metal, period. So why not play it? Ok...you want the real reason, don't ya? Alright...well here it is, CHICKS! haha Chicks just love grown men growling in a mic. Banging our heads/swinging the guitars as if we are trying to decapitate ourselves. Brings out a certain level of sexiness doesn't it? haha Ok, so this isn't truth. Chicks are not a good reason to get involved with this shit. But seriously, its simply all about the music bro. We just wanted to contribute to what so many before us had given us. A small thanks. The plan pretty much was to play a show in hopes that someone would ask us how we ever figured on writing shit like that. And in turn we would be able to open their eyes, by passing other band names there way, to all sorts of sick metal out there, past and present. We're still not very liked here(in our area), but at least we tried to open peoples eyes to the shit. Some people dig it, others hate it. But at least they finally know this for sure. Won't know til you listen. We have been able to find people that had never heard the shit and now won't stop listening! haha Thats great to see. Our plan is actually working. Just not a greatly as we'd hoped. haha
2. describe the�band's sound!
Honestly...WE SUCK!! haha We set out to breakdown as much as we possibly could. Now we weren't as successful in doing what we wanted at first, but the new shit is coming around very well. The breakdowns are doubling. The groove is getting better. And our vocals(cause all three of us sing) are really starting to come together, finally. We'd set out to sound brutal. But we still aren't were we want to be. Which is probably good. Cause this will keep us from quiting. We get alot of people telling us that we sound like we are trying to be Devourment. WE ARE!! haha No, actually we all fucking absolutely love their sound!! But we don't want to be Devourment. Devourment is Devourment. And no one else. Why would you even want to be someone else? Them being a major influence on our writing, i can see how people can come to that conclusion. But come on now....if we could play half as good as those sick bastards, i'd be a happy man. Maybe someday... Besides, we are content with being shitty. Its all about loving what you do. And we do. So in conclusion, we are a death metal band. Plain an simple. And i'm assuming by the response we have gotten so far, we sound like a death metal band. I'm not a big fan of all these different sub titles. So i'll not going to shot some sort of sub genre out at you. We all sound death metal to me.
3. the drum machine's sound is cool! what bands did you learn how to do it from�and what's the main reason�of using it?
Thanks bro!! Truth is i have no fucking clue what the fuck i'm doing. haha I just pick up the drum machine(Boss dr-670) and start plugging away at shit. If it sounds good to me, i keep it. If it sounds like shit, i keep it. haha It'll fit somewhere, right? We got the sound of the drums by changing each single drum sound on the machine. Todd and I sat for hours with him hitting a acoustic drum kit that was in the room and we kept changing the pitch of each drum until we found a sound we liked. This way the drums would sound as real as possible. After that i sat down with the piece of shit and started basically learning how to play drums by the same route i did with the guitar. The what the fuck am i doing route. haha Didn't listen to any other bands to get a sound because we didn't want to rip anyone elses sound off. Besides, its a fucking machine. How real can it possibly sound? Just basically went in and tried to make it as real as humanly possible. Never wanted to go the extreme route incase a drummer would be found. Wanted to make sure they would still be able to play the shit. haha The really fast shit, although i do quite enjoy listening to it myself, is just not the way we wanted to take our music.
Our reasons for using it are simply, couldn't find a drummer, period. Didn't want this to stop us, so we got a drum machine to get started. That was the original plan at least. We'd hope it would not be used for a long time. And now its been years... Can't complain though. Things been real good to us. Shows up to practice ready to go. Never comes drunk, pissed off, moody, drugged up..... And we never have to clear shows with it. Its always up for playing, ANYTHING!! Now there are a few problems with it. For starters the son of a bitch won't speak up to help you with ideas when you are all out! Playing live is a bitch because people seem to think the drum machine is a chance to cheat. You still got to program the bitch!! And no matter how hard you try, you just can't get that "real" sound live. Acoustic drums fill a room with sound, drum machines do not.
4. your demos cover art and the website look so sick and gory. and the band logo that you did is one of the sickest logos out there. so what's the main concept of the band?
Thanks bro!! The concept of our band is...well gore. haha Plain an simple. We choose to go the route of self mutilation for our main focus because it seemed to be much more interesting to us. What all can you possibly do to yourself? This is the question that haunts us. So naturally, lets sing about it. haha But i wouldn't say our logo is one of the sickest out there. I'm a hard one to please i guess. That logo we use is like an 11th generation. I did so many different designs before finally just going with that one. And i'm still not satisfied with it. But i figured i better stop. It was the first one that all of us could agree on together. And besides, chances are, i would never be satisfied. So in turn, we'd never have a logo if i didn't.
5. inhuman dissiliency has a lot of�cool breakdowns! i know you are into artery eruption, devourment, disconformity, guttural secrete, and vomit remnants. so they are big influences to you when creating breakdowns and sick songs or what? tell us your main influences!
YES!! These bands you mention are great influences to our music. Devourment being our main influence. But this isn't all that we stem influences from. Growing up i listened to a lot of early Napalm Death. Earlier Cannibal Corpse. The mighty Suffocation. Early Brutal Truth. Hell even bands like Pantera(RIP Dime), and the Misfits all play a roll in what we do. If its got any form of brutality in it, i'm sure we have tried to use its influence in some way or another. But yes, the likes of Devourment, Artery Eruption, Disconformity, Guttural Secrete, Vomit Remnants, along with Dripping, Disgorge(US), Saprogenic, Goratory, Snoop Dogg, Digested Flesh, etc....This list could go on for days. So much great shit out there that plays a roll in one band creating music. Its fucking incredible.
6. the split cd with vomitous catches the most attention from me. i got to hear it soon! why did you decide to release a�split cd with them? and any other�releases planed for the�near future?
Why did we decide to release a split with Vomitous? To hear their music!! Motherfuckers are SICK!! They are good friends of ours and what better bands to be doing splits with then your friends? Plus i know for a fact that they really wanted to do this. We have been talking about it for some time. It just all came together one day out of the blue. With the help of Lou. haha that rhymed. Other then that split cd, we still got that Artery Eruption. Orchidectomy, Cephalic Mortification, 4 way split coming out sooner or later. The tracks we got made up for that are alot newer then these ones that will be coming out on the Vomitous split. The breakdowns are just getting incrediblely sick! The stuff that is going to the Vomitous split is the stuff that was to be our "Immersed in Carnal Decay" cd. Its the only stuff we had available to do a split with them. And we don't want to let them down. After those two splits come out, we are in the works of a sick split in the making right now. Once more information becomes available, we will be posting it up on our website. Then sooner or later, we'd like to finally be able to put out a full length. But the problem with that is this, like i said earlier in this interview, we only play this shit to spread the shit. Splits do exactly that. Help spread more shit at once. So its hard for us to turn them down. We'll see tho. I know alot of people keep asking for a full length cd. And i would like to make one.
7. you are good friends with a lot of�bands in the world and you make a lot of�pins for those�bands. and you make up websites for bands as well and even zines like my own�. so you are a really�dedicated person for the underground�scene. what motivate's you to do those things?
Like Mike Majewski once told me, "Its all about support." I've never heard it put any better then that. The more one can do to help support, do it! For every artist that is sitting around putting their thumb up their ass, use the talent to make something for someone that can't. If we don't help each other out, then we really don't have much of a reason for being in this scene. I make pins for friends bands because i have a fucking pin maker, period. Its a great way to promote. What good is it to have a pin maker if its not making pins? I guess i could use it as a back scratcher. haha But its fairly heavy. I'd probably pick the fucker up and accidently drop it on my head or something. haha So i'd rather just use it for what its made for. Making fucking pins!! I know bands could use them. Besides, ever pin i have ever made, i have worn one proudly myself to show support. So its all basically sumed up in Majewski's words above. Thats all the motivation one should need. That and i know first handly how it feels to have someone help you out. Its a great feeling. Its been done to me, so i'm given back.
8. any sick new�bands that you have been into lately�and want to�share with us?
Shit man!! Tons of great bands out anymore. Dude, the new shit that both Guttural Secrete and Artery Eruption are about to put out are fucking insanely sick!! We all know damn well that Devourment is about to lay us all out to rot....again!! Shit i have heard recently like Arif's band Projectile Disembowelment and his other band Flesh Disgorged!! Everything new out of Japan(Disconformity, Infected Malignity, Rest in Gore, Woundeep....Japanese scene is fucking incredible anymore)!! Derrick and Justin's band Fetal Butchery! Our bro Julien's project, Gutrectomy! Pat's one man project, Pollution! Gerard's sick ass band, Cote d'Aver!! Santiago's, God Made Filth, whom is about to lay us all out a demo cd soon!! Insanely sick, Orchidectomy!! That new Lapidate shit is fucking SICK!! Had a friend here working on a project called, Excrement. Its sick grind shit! The new Mutilated shit is fucking insane!! Anyone that hasn't picked up the new LDOH mcd must do so NOW!! Some of the most intense shit EVER!! Fucking sick ass Vomitous!! Infant Bile!! Pathogenic Dysentery!! Cuntmageddon!! There is so much going on now that i can't possibly name it all. The memory to store information for this zine isn't big enough bro. haha
Shit that i have been listening to non-stop recently would be, Devourment, Disconformity, Saprogenic(release the new shit please!!!), Rest in Gore, Vomit Remnants, Cystic Dysentery, Gutrot, Enmity, Lapidate, Orchidectomy, Wormed, Guttural Secrete, Degrade, Infected Malignity, Woundeep, Corpse Carving, CODC, Immersed in Blood, I Shit on Your Face, Human Mastication, Screaming Afterbirth, the new LDOH, fuck man, this shit could go on forever too! haha I've been listening to alot of shit recently.
9. now brian your�ex-vocalist�has returned to the band from the air force. and todd, the�bassist has cool gutturals too. soon the line up will be�completed! so what's this gonna mean sound wise for inhuman dissiliency?
Dude, the sound is only getting SICKER!! We are very happy that Brian has decided to come back. We are now back to our 3 man vocal attack. But the shit is much more intense now. We have come to our senses with the vocal layouts and have been able to make them better on the diversity side of things. Other then that, nothing has changed. We still set out for the same reason as we started. And that is simply to breakdown as much as we fucking can!! haha The only thing we need to find is that fucking drummer!! But what else is new? haha
10. you are good friend's with a lot of�slamming guttural bands like artery eruption, disconformity, guttural secrete, vomitous, digested flesh and more. along with them, how do you want to lead the ultra slamming brutal death scene?
Lead!? Fuck that!! I just want to fucking play!! We are nothing in comparsion to these sick fucks listed above. We are like that little pellet turd trying to follow the big turds down the sewage drain. We have no need to be anything more then that. As for our friends, these are great people and i think if asked the same question would probably agree that its all about loving the shit. Not leading it. Most people that are playing it are just a fan at heart. Thats what makes this a great form of music. The people that create it are also supporters of it. I am personally very honored to have these sick bastards as friends. And i hope you all stay as fucking sickly brutal as you are right now!!
11. when will you come to play shows in japan? i hope you will play with my friends bands like disconformity, rest in gore, and infected malignity hehe.its my dream.
When will we play japan? NOW!! Man i want to play over there really bad. And bro, as if the bands you listed aren't going to be on the list as MUST play with. haha Book the show and we will find a way of getting there. It might be a year late(due to the distance) but we will be there. haha Seriously, i would absolutely love to play over there. Especially if it was with the likes of Disconformity, Rest in Gore, Infected Malignity, Woundeep, Keisuke and rest the sick fucks of Vomit Remnants. One day this MUST happen. It is a dream of mine as well bro.
12. what kind of gear do you use? and what's the main goal of inhuman dissiliency's sound?
What gear do i use, anything that still works!! haha I'll been running my guitar(Jackson soloist/Charvel Model 6 stocked with EMG-81(i think) active pickups) out of a Digitech 21 pro guitar processer with dual 31 band DOD eq. Playing through a Crate full stack(stocked with Celestion G12T-75 speakers). Our main goal is to sound as extremely low and downtuned as we possibly can. But not too much that you can't make any fucking sense out of what the fuck is going on. haha Biggiest problem with this is volume. The lower the tunage, the lower the volume. So you got to find a way to get it louder. Which can prove to be a bitch when you are like us and don't know what the fuck you are doing. haha
13. last question, why have you listened to�ultra gutteral�brutal�music your entire�life and what motivate's you to do that?
I've been listening to metal yes, but ultra guttural metal is fairly new bro. I think for this reason, the reason that it keep getting better, I will always listen to this music. Something new is always on the rise. Who would have thought that metal would have made it this fucking far? Yes, i was introduced to metal at a really young age, and i loved that shit. Still do. But metal nowadays is just down right fucking insane!! I think the only motivation you really need is progression. As the furture the scene evolves, the more interesting it becomes. I have had to take breaks over the years because some times the shit just gets too fucking insane. Not that i left the shit behind or nothing. When metal gets into your digestive system, you know you aint getting rid of it with the flush of the toilet. So to say i've listened to it, and only it, my entire life isn't completely true. Cause there has been times where the motivation has been pretty shitty. One needs another outlet to listen to just to keep themselves sane. Well at least for me. But brutal music will always have a spot in my life.
