| interview with Nanasickkk of craniablast webzine. |
Greetings to Shawn and Inhuman Dissiliency! I wanna thank you guys for
sharing some of your sickest time to do this interview with
Craniablast!
How are you guys and how's everything back in Penny? Any good looking
death metal guys back there hahaha kidding!
Hey Nana!! First of all, thank you for the interview! As far as how things are going, well for me, things are going good i guess. Nothing is going bad that i know of at least. Wait... haha No actually, things are going pretty good. I hope Singapore is treating you good, Nana! For the most part PA stays pretty quiet. Not a whole lot of shit goes down here. Wait! Hot death metal guys!!?? Nana, I know of no suck thing here. haha!! Wait...does Todd count? haha Chick seem to think that he is hot. Personally..... haha
Yes I understand its like you guys have to repeat answering this
particular question like a gruesome million times but some of Singaporean
metallers would like
to know more of your band and your music. So kindly intro in the
sickest form possible!
We SUCK!! : ) Is that sick enough for ya? haha No actually we come from a small city(more like a town), called Harrisburg(our state capital). Its in shitty PA. Todd and I date back pretty far with this band. We started out many years back trying to get anything we could off the ground. It all started off with a band i was in called, Silenced. Our bassist decided to leave the band and Todd being a long time friend of ours fit the part perfectly. So he joined us, sadly to see our drummer leave the band a few months later. This left Todd and I an option to call it quits or start a new band. Just without Shane, our drummer, things were going to be completely different. So instead of making things try to work out, we started a new band with a fresh start. We had to keep going!! haha So we found a few members and started a band, that never had a name, which was more like blackened death metal type stuff instead of the brutal music we were looking for. The band tried to stay together through many lineup changes, but eventually fell apart near the winter of 2002. At this time Todd and I decided to set out fresh again for what we original wanted to get started, a deathgrind outfit. We picked up/made some members. haha We couldn't find enough people for this project so we made us a singer from a friend that was just hanging out. Turns out Brian, ended up being sick as fuck!! This band was entitled, "Perpetual Dismemberment." Even though things seemed to be going great now, this band ended up calling it quits too. Due to a lack of members showing up for practices. We just couldn't seem to get people to make it. So Todd and I decided to try a different aproach. Dawn the era of the drum machine. ID started sometime in the summer of 2002. With the arival of the drum machine, we were finally able to create the music we set out so many years before to write. We didn't really want to use the drum machine, but in the end we all decided to go with it just to get started and continue our search for a drummer while writing material. We still have yet to find the right drummer for the job but have been trying out some drummer over the years. Hopefully soon! This is pretty much it. We are currently still writing music the same as we always were. Things don't seem to be any different from year to year.
Wait up...is Brian, your vox still in the band? I know Todd came back
to life and join forces juz' like the old times. So have you guys find a
real-life drummer yet,
or you guys are comfortable without one, and still keep on abusing the
drums machine with a human touche'?
Yes, Brian is back in the band. The sick fucker came back home! And was welcomed back with opened arms. The same for Todd when he had choosen to leave/come back. In both cases there were no bad ties between any of us. Just shitty situations leading to departure. So now we are back in full swing. \m/ And no, we haven't find ourselves a real drummer yet. Still on a look out tho. We'd like to have one, but the way we look at it, if we don't ever get one, so be it. We are not going to stop writing the music we love because of it. None of us were really happy at first with the drum machine. But it has done sooooo much for us now. Its almost hard to part with it. haha Either way, if the right drummer came along, they would get the job. But the drum amchine would be kept for backup.
I really wanna thank Shawn for the demo and promo cds and the spaghett
shirt...hehe I'm actually wearing it now while typing off this intie
for you sick peepz.
Thankxxx IxDx for the awesome stuff. I blast off your insane music on
my shitty portable stereo, its about time I need a fucking new one!
Man!!! Your music has
a great combo of Devourment+Artery Eruption+Autophagia+Blue
Holocaust+Vomit Remnants! Pure sickness! Do these bands influence IxDx in some
way?
Thank You Nana for the sick support!! "wearing it now..." haha \m/ You rule!! Yes, these bands have had a great influence on our music. And continue to do so in the newer shit we are writing. Devourment has been a favorite of ours for years. So its only natural to spew influences from them. Alone with these sick bastards that you have named above, we stem influences from bands like Suffocation, early Naplam Death, early Cannibal Corpse, etc. As of recently, some bands that have been influencing us have been, Disconformity(fuck, i could name damn near anything out of Japan anymore! \m/), Guttural Secrete, Wormed, etc. Sooooo much sick shit anymore!!
I heard that you guys gonna release an EP and a split with brutal death
metal VOMITOUS under Sevared Records, how's everything coming along?
Tell us more
about your EP and Split. When it's gonna be release? I wanna make my
pre-order. Hehe...
Here is the thing with this split/EP. Yes, this was the plan, but the plan seems to have took a misunfortunate turn. Turns out that we had to make a choose and as of now at least, we have decided to just release all of what was going to be on the, "Immersed in Carnal Decay" cd on this split cd with Vomitous. We ran into a small problem with time of the disc and stuff and figured this would be the best to make everyone happy. So the "Immersed in Carnal Decay" cd looks like it might have to take a back seat. Which sucks because we were looking forward to releasing that cd soon. But at least all the tracks that are not released already(demo tracks will not be found on the split), which were to make up the Immersed cd, will now be release on this split. And will probably make it alot easier to get ahold of. Seeings that it is going to be released on a split that is being released by a label(Sevared Records). Does that make any sense? Cause i'm damn near lost... haha So hopefully this will all play out alright and things will get out some way or another.
We all know that It's much more challenging using a drum machine and
its programmes than a real 100% human flesh body parts. There's pros and
cons
to it. Like you guys don't have to deal with lateness during jamming
session with your drummer, hahaha! So tell us what other things that you
don't have to put
up with your current drummer (Mr Drum Machine) and is it gonna be a
permanent thing with Mr Drum Machine?
Mr Drum Machine...haha Thats funny. Actually its Dr. Rhythm. Thats the name that the company (Boss) gave it. So thats what we call it. haha Like i said before, we hope to be able to find a drummer in the future. But as of now, we will continue our brutal assault with Dr. Rhythm til one is found. As for some good things about using a drum machine, well one great thing is the cut back of studio time. One take eveytime. Somw other things are, motherfucker NEVER shows up drunk. It does what you tell it to. And it listens. Never gives you lip either. It is truely a friend. haha The biggiest shit part about it is playing live. Man do i miss having a live drummer. Playing live with a drum machine right off the bat makes half the crowd figure you suck before even listening to you play. So you end up with most people walking out before you even start. Thanks for your time ASSHOLES!! And then with our drum machine, we spend most of the time during a set worring about wheither or not the damn thing is going to play right. We had a small problem with volume at one point were we'd be playing and the machine would decrease in volume whenever it felt like it. That makes it real hard to put on a good show when you are worrying about stupid shit like that. Besides this stuff, a drum machine can't "fill" the room like a real kit can. So you are heavily relying on a good PA system or else... Its just all in all better to play live without it. But it works wonders for low noise practicing(middle of the night, everyones sleeping)!! \m/
There are so many great sickk ass bands/one man unit who actually used
drums programming like VISP, CORPSE-CARVING, PROJECTILE DISEMBOWELMENT,
BLUE HOLOCAUST. Do you think from your point of view, using this drum
machine helps to create and get the sound that you really really want?
And are you
satisfied with the outcome, or having a human drummer is much better
off?
Well this all depends. It sure does help me get the sound i want to hear, fast. But this can be done with a drummer as well. It just seems to take more time. But then again, so drummers are just made for certain bands and in these cases, i can't see a drum machine working out better. But then you got people that have no drummers anywhere near them. So in this case, the drum machine is damn near the only route to take. Once you get the brutal bug, you ain't slipping it. So you NEED a way of getting it out. Even if it is a machine. I personally have been pretty satisfied with the outcome of our drum machine. I mean, it only cost us like $300. And the way i see it, we have gotten a shitload out of it. I wouldn't do it any differnetly if i could. I have been able to learn alot about music that i didn't know before purchasing this machine. And yes Nana, some people are just absolutely incredible with this shit! There are so many good band using this shit that its not possible to state for a fact that the drum machine is not a friend with brutal music. Take for example bands like Projectile Disembowelment, Vomitous, Insidious Decrepancy, Putrid Pile, Pollution, Excrement, Vomitricide, Syphlic, Corpse Carving, Gutrectomy, Fetal Butchery .....fuck this list goes on and on. So many good bands!! \m/
I see you guys have fetish for sick gut-up body parts! Self-mutilation
everywhere, in the covers and in the lyrics. Sick sick sick. Who came
up with this sickshit?
The lyrics and art covers?
Thanks Nana!! haha Yeah, we love gory shit. And when we sat down to figure out what we wanted to do with the lyrical content of this band, we went after self-mutilation. Why? For the simply reason that anyone can kill another person or dismember the fuck out of them. But it take a special someone to distroy themselves. And to us, this was the right direct to go in. We like to think about this shit, so why not write it? As for the visuals(artwork and shit), so far they have been done by me, personally. Once i'm done with something, i take it for appoval with the rest of the band. So all in all, the final is done some way or another from all of us. The lyrics have always been a group thing. 3 view points is better then one. At least it is with us. So in the end, self-mutilation is what we like, so thats what you get.
Other than mutilating yourselves, what do you guys do? Working or still
cramping in books? I know Todd is a great tattoo artist, can I get a
IxDx logo tattoo
on my upper right butt for free? No? Hahaha...
"Can i get a IxDx logo tattoo on my upper right butt..." hahahahaha... I don't know, call him. haha But yes, Todd does tattoo work. I work in a magazine printing company doing stupid shit like laying out pages for teeny magazines. For the most part my job sucks!! haha But it pays the bills. Brian is currently looking for a job. I hope he is successful this time. Everyone needs the steady income to survive anymore. So yes, we all work. Stopped cramping in books years ago.
Alright, before Todd starts tattoo-ing my butt, any last words for sick
fiends of yours in Singapore? Seriously, we do have great people here
who really digs
your music!
