THE VALIDITY OF HYPNOSIS

Ever since the Mayo Clinic proved in 1955 that hypnotic healing suggestions caused bones to knit in one-fourth the normal time, great strides have been accomplished using hypnosis. Today, many hospitals employ hypnotists to assist surgical patients in preparing for surgery, being able to require less anesthetic during surgery and accelerating the healing after surgery. Medical science is finally beginning to adapt the findings of the Mayo clinic to the real world.

Hypnotherapy has been recognized as a valid therapeutic modality by the British Medical Association since 1955, and the American Medical Association since 1958. Five sessions of self-hypnosis helped Tania Lapointe to deliver her third child, Chloe, in a state of "calm, quiet and peaceful" ease, without medication. A key issue is practice, which reduces the need for medication. Imagination and relaxation are used to achieve pain-free childbirth. Lapointe explains, "It was like heaven compared to the other two." Hypnosis has been used medically for surgery and burn victims to eliminate or reduce pain. One practitioner described hypnosis as a "power nap." The best part of hypnosis seems to be in speeding the health process throughout recovery. In one study published in the Journal of Rheumatology, 40 Fibromyalgia patients were randomly assigned treatment of either Hypnotherapy or Physical Therapy. The therapy lasted 12 weeks with a follow up at 24 weeks. The patients in the Hypnosis group showed a significantly better outcome with respect to pain reduction, fatigue upon awakening, sleep patterns, and global assessment at 12 and 24 weeks.

The authors concluded that hypnosis was effective in relieving the symptoms of Fibromyalgia. Every client using hypnosis for FMS has gained a significant reduction in symptoms. Many have become symptom free during the course of therapy and have remained that way after the sessions have ended. They have been able to reduce their dependence on medications and return to a more active lifestyle.


Instructions for tape recording your scripts:

Please listen to the healing script twice a day to begin..or once a day minimum. As you achieve more and more pain relief you can listen to the script every other day and little by little... less and less.

* Do not worry if you fall asleep as you listen to the Sleep Script. If anything, it will have achieved its purpose!

* Scripts should be spoken very slowly and monotone, so try to feel that as you are saying it in your mind.... let it flow...) Pause every time you see the three dots...A good size pause, maybe the time it would take to actually say the word pause.
Read through the script a couple of times before you record ...getting familiar with the wording and the rhythm will help your words flow when you are ready to record. Plan to set aside a good hour to tape these and plan for as few interruptions as possible. Maybe you will take the phone off the hook, or close the door so that dog can't come in barking!

Sit back, close your eyes, and begin to let go... take a deep breath in, hold it, and exhale slowly... now, one more time... and this time, imagine your breath flowing out through your ribcage as relaxation spreads over your entire body... feel it....

Now just begin relaxing all the muscles in your face... your forehead... eyebrows... your eyes... relax your nose and cheeks... relax your mouth and chin... all the muscle groups around your mouth... your teeth unclench, and your jaw will want to just drop open a little bit... let it go...just let go... let go...

Now allow all that relaxation in your face to flow down...flow down like a wave... down through your neck... through the back of your neck... and down into your shoulders... let all the weight in your shoulders just disappear... imagine any stress or discomfort to be tiny droplets of water... and let them just evaporate and float away... allow the relaxation to flow...to flow down like a wave, into your arms as your arms become very, very heavy... the upper part of your arms... your elbows... forearms... and into your hands and right to the tips of your fingers... your arms are heavy, loose and limp... you feel as though you couldn't lift them if you tried...

Notice how nice and rhythmic your breathing is now... as your chest rises and falls, imagine that relaxation moving with your body... relax as that wonderful energy flows throughout your chest and diaphragm... and then seems slowly through to your back muscles... touching every muscle and organ on it's way through... let it go, just let go... let go...

Your upper back relaxes... flows through the muscles... flow down like a wave...into your middle back... down into your lower back... a numbness and tingling covers your entire body as the energy begins to relax you more and more... relax your hips now... and allow that relaxation to flow down�flow down like a wave... into your legs... your thighs... your knees... down into your calves... feeling completely wonderful now... your ankles... your feet... and finally, your toes... let go...just let go...let go

You may begin to feel your eyes flutter ever so slightly now... the body is almost asleep, but the mind is ever present... now, imagine the most beautiful place in the universe... wherever you want... your sanctuary... and allow yourself to go there...And you're now relaxed and at ease and you can awaken at any time by simply counting up from one to five and saying the words, "wide awake." So you're in control of this mind-programming session. And I'm going to begin by providing suggestions which will be communicated to every level of your body and mind, and they'll be accepted on every level of your body and mind.

Your muscles are relaxed and your mind is at ease� You have the power and ability to block any sensations you don't want to feel� You do� You accept this� Focusing the unlimited power of your mind, you can send numbing sensations into any discomfort� You block all physical sensations you don't want to experience� You have this power� You block what you don't want to feel� Allow it to happen� Feel it happening� You obtain relief when you desire to obtain relief� Your mind is in control of your body� You feel better�and better�and better�Your entire body is relaxed all over in every way�and you're feeling better� and better� and better� The word "anesthesia" is your key trigger word for post-hypnotic conditioned response� And these suggestions have been communicated to every level of your body and mind.. and they've been accepted on every level of your body and mind, and so it is...

And it's now time to invoke a technique called glove anesthesia� And we'll begin by concentrating upon your dominant hand� which is beginning to lose all feeling� It's all right� Focus your attention upon your hand and allow it to lose all feeling� You hand is becoming numb� No feeling at all� No feeling at all� But I'd like you to help out here..by mentally telling your hand to go to sleep� Tell it to go to sleep� Go to sleep. ..Your hand is going to sleep� It becomes numb� No feeling at all� No feeling at all. ..And every breath you take seems to cause your hand to become number� and number� and number�until you just can't feel your hand at all� You just can't feel your hand at all because it is numb� Numb� No feeling� Numb� No feeling� No feeling�

And now . . . you're going to transfer this lack of feeling to the part of your body that you desire to feel numb� So on the count of three you're going to raise your hand and place it upon the part of your body you want to feel numb� And in so doing, you'll transfer this numbness to that portion of your body. .. So get ready now . . . on the count of three, raise your hand and touch the part of your body you want to become cool and numb. ..Number one . . . number two . . . and number three� Release the numbness into another part of your body. ..Move your hand and transfer the numbness�

And you've now transferred the calming� soothing� numbing coolness� and you're physically feeling better and better and better� Settling down to normal and the coolness permeates the area� You experience wonderful relief� All the tension is gone from your body and mind and you breathe deeply and relax completely� feeling better and better� Calm� cool� soothing� numbing sensations permeates the area.. Better and better� Numbness� Relief� Numbness� Relief.

And it's time to focus the incredible power of visualization by imagining yourself having already resolved your current condition� and you feel good all the time� You physically feel as good as you've ever felt� and you experience joy in this realization� Create every detail of this visualization�including your reaction� and the reactions of others� And in so doing you communicate your desire to the levels of mind that will assist you in manifesting the positive outcome� Visualize now while I'm quiet for awhile�

"anesthesia." The word "anesthesia is a conditioned response key to your subconscious mind and when you say "anesthesia,".. you will draw upon the unlimited power of your mind to control physical sensations� When you say "anesthesia,"� you will feel the cooling numbness you experienced earlier in this session� spreading to the part of your body in need of relief� The word "anesthesia". now becomes your key for totally effective conditioned response� and every time you hear this suggestion� and every time you use your "anesthesia" programming� it will become more and more effective�

And now� once again, it's time to create another visualization in which you perceive yourself feeling good all the time� You feel as good as you've ever felt� and you experience joy in this realization� Imagine yourself doing what you most love to do�Create every detail of this visualization� In so doing you communicate your desires to the mental levels that have the power to assist you� in manifesting the positive outcome� Visualize now while I'm quiet for awhile.

Begin by taking a long slow deep breath through the nose...Allow the eyes to close normally and naturally ...Hold your breath for the mental count of 4...Open your mouth and exhale all the breath from your body in a long ...low deep sigh ...and...let it go...let go...Now imagine you find yourself out in nature�Create a magnificent day...Choose somewhere you find beautiful and relaxing...Do you place yourself perhaps on a beautiful beach or a mountain top...or do you prefer a desert?...But, whatever you choose, I want you to be out in nature...Created as a warm spring or summers day ...with a brilliant sun directly above you...up in the sky...among two clouds light and fluffy...just visible on the horizon

Imagine if you will the sensation of a gentle breeze blowing from time to time across your body...Are you aware of the smells?...Are you aware of the sounds appropriate to the scene that you have created?...Now I want you to know in the event of an emergency experience while listening to this tape...You will awake into full consciousness� Fully alert and refreshed. You will handle the emergency calmly and successfully....Take a second long slow deep breath now ...and hold it...Open your mouth...and exhale slowly all the air from your body...As you mentally count from 8 to 1...And let go...Relax now...Let go

And I want you to know and accept that anytime during this hypnotic experience or any other, whether through the use of a recording or by the direction of a hypnotist or otherwise...You will always bring yourself to full awaking consciousness merely by counting the numbers from one to five at the count of five your eyes will open and your mind will become alert. ...Your entire body will be well rested and relaxed, with harmonious thoughts in your mind...Now in your mind,...in your imagination...focus on the brilliant light of the sun over your right arm like you would a flashlight...moving gently back and forth...slowly from the tips of your fingers to your shoulder...until you feel the warmth penetrating your skin...and then the muscles...the bones ...until the light of the sun touches every nerve...every cell...every consciousness in your right arm...and you find your right arm relaxing...and you find yourself drifting...deeper...and deeper...into a gentle state of relaxation...drifting deeper...and deeper

Bring the light from the sun now in through your head ...and gently move it down your spine until it touches...the base of your spine...and when it touches the base of your spine...It will light up your entire body like a flourescent light bulb...from the base of the spine to the top of your head ...and then the light begins to move and to shiver and to...radiate...radiate...radiate through every nerve of your body ...you are aware of the energy from the light moving ...moving down and around your pelvic area and down your legs ...from the small of your back to the stomach ...from between your shoulders around your ...heart across your shoulders...and your neck...and your head ...your entire body ...is relaxing more and more ...your shoulders relax,...the skull relaxes...the right and thee left lobes of your brain relax...the little muscles around your eyes relax...your cheeks relax

letting go...each and every time you wish to be hypnotized you will find ...that you are able to enter hypnosis much more easily and much more deeper then the time before...you will find you can place yourself into a deep hypnosis merely by repeating the words...I am now going into self hypnosis...I am going to hypnotize myself for the next 15 minutes...Or whatever time you choose...and you will inhale deeply through the nose...hold your breath to the mental count of 4...and exhale all the air from your body...you will feel the light penetrate your body...you will mentally count down from 8 to 1 ...and you�ll go deeply and immediately into a state of self hypnosis...for the length of time chosen...relax...relax...relax...relax ...let go

Just imagine now that this energy begins to flow from the very top of your head... and immediately, you begin to relax... as this pure, relaxing energy flows into your forehead, it becomes the most beautiful shade of indigo... it flows down into your eyes... your eyes become very heavy... you couldn't open them if you tried... your cheeks relax... your lips... your chin... your jaw... completely relaxed... if your mind wanders, just allow it to happen...
This beautiful energy flows down into your throat now... becoming the most lovely shade of blue you have ever seen... you can feel it's healing power... down into your shoulders... relaxing more and more... the relaxation flows down into your chest... as it nears your heart, the light becomes a brilliant, healing green... detach yourself now from any thoughts of the outside world at all... and relax even more...

The energy continues to flow through your back muscles... making them numb and warm... your arms begin to feel heavy and limp... they relax at your sides... completely relax... heavy and numb... the relaxation flows down into your ribs... right above your belly button... the light becomes yellow... it continues to flow... into your diaphragm... your breathing is so rhythmic and easy... the light becomes orange...

Almost every muscle in your body completely relaxed... your mind is at ease... your body is numb... this feeling flows down into your hips... the healing light becomes a beautiful red... the energy flows down into your thighs... your knees... your calves... your feet... and right to your toes... your legs are heavy and numb... there is no feeling is discomfort whatsoever... you are completely relaxed and comfortable...
