End Result: Left a thin light scar Happy with the Result: Definitely, it was interesting, even though I took it out Date Done: Probably around August 2002 Story: Ok, we all know what safety staplers are. The handheld dinky little ones that you cannot open up. There is even a fat plastic guard on the top of the stapler, as to prevent people from abusing it and actually stapling themselves. But, I am what people would call a product abuser. One day while sitting in Civil War class I had this genius idea to staple myself. I won't get into boring details, but the trick is to find a fatty part on your hand so the fold of skin fits into the 1/8 inch, more or less, gap of the stapler. I did this with one hand, mind you. It works like a charm, kind of. I stapled my left hand but the staple didn't go all the way through. So I had to get a single staple and cut into the closed end. Did you know that your skin makes a loud POP sound when pierced bluntly? Maybe you did, but I didn't until then. There wasn't much bleeding at all, being the fatty part of the hand, but I seriously could have sanitized the staples. I put a dangling earring into my hand and left it there for about a week. Bam. Infection. Remarkably, though, the piercing process didn't hurt much at all. If it doesn't go all the way through and you have to do what I did, cut the end with another staple, then yes it will hurt. But if you pierce in one shot, it's all good. And use one end of the staple, so you don't get two piercings in your hand you know. So the stapler will be at an angle to your hand. Hope that makes sense. Happy safety stapling! ![]() Needle: Staple Gauge: Purchased: Cost: For a stapler and a box of staples, no more than $5, probably less Jewelry: An earring Gauge: Err, average...[that means around 18/20 gauge or so] Purchased: Cost: I think it was one of those $0.25 machine earrings Aftercare: I used warm soap and water everyday, but to no avail Purchased: Cost: TOTAL COST: Like $5.25, more or less ![]()
