Happy with the Result: Date Done: September 1, 2003 Story: Ok here it goes...a while ago my friend had pierced her nose with a thumbtack (ow). Although she took it out it gave me an idea. I always wanted my cartilage pierced, but for some odd reason my mom wouldn't let me (I'm 14). Anyway, I decided to look into self piercing (seeing the dangers, etc) and decided I could do it. So a couple of hours ago [on September 1, 2003] I took a sewing pin from my moms pin cushion and used a lighter to semi-sterilize it and then, I soaked it in some hydrogen peroxide for a loooong time (I wanted to make sure it was pretty clean). I also soaked the earring and the back in peroxide to make them clean too, then it came time for me to actually pierce my ear. Now let me tell you, I dont particularly like the idea of inflicting pain on myself so I would start to poke my ear, but then it would hurt and I would stop and it would bleed. By that time I was getting really freaked out about it. Towards night time I decided to make some ice so I could numb my ear. The ice worked pretty damn good. I iced it for like a half an hour (hey im a pussy so sue me) and then I went up and got the pin and started to poke my ear. It hurt a little, but I sucked it up and just stuck it all the way. Tt didn't hurt very much at all! I was suprised, but being me I went downstairs and told everyone online I finally pierced it. Of course, I only had the pin in my ear and I still needed the earring, but hey I was happy! Anyway, I took the pin out (that kinda stung) and took the earring and tried to get it through, but I couldn't find the back hole. I pierced the same place AGAIN with the pin and tried the same thing with the earring...no success... and by now my ear wasn't numb anymore and my mom had come downstairs as I was pulling out the pin and had ice in my hand. Our conversation went something like this: "whats the ice for?" "my head hurts" "why is that?" I hit it on the desk..." "how?" "uhh i was getting something from the printer..." "ok whatever g'night" ....and then me proceeding to try my pierce n' jab tecnique as she went upstairs. Yet again it failed and it hurt more cuz it wasn't numb. I was like screw it and pierced it again and then just shoved the earring through (prolly making its own hole in the back) and then I put the back on and danced a little jig in celebration! Yay! I'm so happy with it now. It's kinda sore, but that's expected. To anyone reading this and thinking of doing the same thing heres a little advice: ICE IT! and suck it up and just shove the earring through. It saves a lot of time and pain. Oh yeah, and try not to wake up someone who doesn't want you doing it...luckily my mom didn't notice, but that was just luck and eat something before and afterwards... it helps you feel better and your head might kinda hurt during the process...but it's all good :-) ![]() Needle Sewing pin [needle] Gauge: Purchased: From my moms sewing basket Cost: Free Jewelry: Earring stud Gauge: Umm prolly whatever studs usually are?
