Happy with the Result: I like doing it myself better than having someone else do it Date Done: Um...3wks ago or so [as of Nov. 26, 2003] Story: Here's how my story goes... I had wanted my tongue pierced ever since I was prolly 13 or 14. Well, I finally decided to pierce it myself so I found my safety pins and needle and decided to do it myself considering my grandparents weren't going to give in. I spent a week thinking about whether I should do it or not. Finally I asked my friend Alisha if she had a straight barbell I could borrow or have and she said she did. So I thought and thought and thought. I decided since I had already asked Alisha to bring in the barbell that I had to do it even if it hurt. So I gathered my supplies and sat down in front of my mirror already beginning to drool. I took out a shot needle and put a tiny bit of orajel in it and of course marked the dots with a permanent marker and shot the orajel into my tongue from the bottom so I couldn't feel anything. Well a few minutes later my whole tongue was numb and I was droolin all over myself. Gross I know. I knew the orajel was going to wear off soon so I stuck the needle I had used to shoot orajel through my tongue fully. It was so gross hearing the layers pop as the needle went through. After about 10 minutes of pulling every which way I finally took it out. (Still numb) And stuck a medium sized safety pin through just to get the hole a little bigger. After 10 minutes of that I took that out and stuck a bigger safety pin through. Then I took that out and was tired of it so I just stuck in a regular earring through until I got my barbell. I went to school the next day hoping Alisha had the barbell and she didn't. So that night at home I took out my biggest needle and took my earring out. Then I placed in the bigger needle and began to wiggle it through while drooling in a cup. I got it through all the way and left that in for 30seconds. I then took out the needle and of course I had to use a navel barbell because I still didn't have my straight barbell. I got it going through easy until the top layer came. I had to push and push until finally it went through. My tongue was so swollen. I screwed the top ball on and sucked on ice for awhile. I slept with a heatin pad, and slept with my head propped up, and finally Monday came around. And you guessed it Alisha finally had my barbell!! During first period which was choir I took out my navel ring from my tongue and placed a "real" tongue ring in. I've loved it ever since I did it myself.
