Story: I had never been pierced until I was fourteen(which I still am). My first piercing was my tragus, which I had gotten pierced in a very good place by professionals, which by the way ended up infected and it still is, but its a bit better now.

Anyway...since getting that pierced, Ive wanted more! I had wanted to pierce myself for a long time now and so I decided to do some research on it first, which came in handy. I read a story of a girl who used a big sewing needle and was advised not to use an ordinary sized one and lucky for me, it just so happened that I had seen a big sewing needle on the china cabinet in my sitting room earlier that day.

I had a half day from school that Wednesday and I was to go to my friends school play, which meant it wasn't a good idea to do it before the play, but being me, I did it anyway. I cleaned the needle with tea tree oil and cleaned my ear with it too. I made sure I didn't dirty the needle with my hands and held the very end of it and began to pierce.

It didn't really hurt when first putting the needle in. I could feel the needle, it wasn't sore, it was more "uncomfortable," but nothing to cry about. I pushed and twisted, but the needle still wasn't coming through, so I took it out and pushed it back in again. It was a bit sore putting it back in because the tissue inside was sensitive because it was just pierced, but I kept going anyway.

After about ten minutes, it finally came out the back. I kept touching the back of my ear with my finger to see if it had come through, even though I know I shouldn't have, but it was the only way I could feel if the needle had went through. I soaked some tissue paper in tea tree oil and pressed it against my ear lobe, over the needle, to put pressure on it so it wouldn't be sore when I was taking the needle out and so it wouldn't bleed so much. It worked.

I had to use cheap Claire's earrings 'til I got proper ones and I had a bit of trouble getting it into the hole as the hole was a bit small. The left lobe was harder to pierce, although I did the same proceedure as the first one. It took about the same length of time too. When I took the nedle back out of it, it had a tiny bit of blood in the hole, so I cleaned it off and tried to put the other earring in as my sister kncocked on the bedroom door, unaware I was using her earrings! I had to explain the situation and she tried to help me get the ring in.

I had to try myself again because she couldn't do it and I had a bit of trouble finding the hole at the back because I had pierced it crooked! I eventually found the hole and they were done! My first self piercings! I was very happy about it...until a few days later, when the earrings were hurting my ears and making them septic. My sister took them out for me and cleaned them with peroxide and I could hear the lotion burning the infection!

She then gave me a better pair of earings for sensitive ears and the wire is very thin so I could get them in easy, except for my left lobe. As I said, I pierced it crooked and she couldn't get the earring in, so I had to let it close up and bout two weeks later I decided to give it another go.

It took about the same length of time and so on, but it's in now. Still a tiny bit sore because of the swelling, but no infection or anything,so yay!! I am very happy with the piercing and I would suggest to anyone who wants to pierce themselves, GO FOR IT. Don't concentrate on the pain or you'll make it seem painful, but its not, not at all, and it saved me about 30 euro too!! I'm gonna do my ears a second time when my left lobe totally heals and I can't wait!
