![]() Title: 10 holes due to boredom Author: Kate Complications: Pain at first, and/or slight infections End Result: 5 holes in each ear that are doing quite fine Happy with the Result: Yes Date Done: over the past 6 months (today would be 4/9/03) Story: When I was little I had my ears pierced, but they were ripped out while playing with friends. I was about 9 then. Recently, I've taken interest in self-piercing. Over the years I've self-pierced my belly button, hand (webbing), and various other spots. I took them all out though. About 6 months back, I decided I was going to pierce my ear lobes (I now have 3 lobe piercings on each ear). The lobe wasn't too painful, but it hurt a little. I used a needle and piercing studs. I also recently pierced 2 holes in my cartilage on both ears. Cartilage IS more painful to self-pierce than your earlobe. I wouldn't ever regret self-piercing my ears. Within the next month or so, I'm going to gauge my bottom holes. I'm also actually thinking of doing another hole tonight, which brought me to this site. I would fully support self-piercing, as long as you know what you're doing and use the right tools. And to top it off, it's pretty inexpensive (considering it costs about $30 around here for an earlobe piercing w/ jewerly). ![]() Needle: Sewing needle/piercing studs Gauge: Purchased: Needle-home; studs-from friend who works at a piercing stand Cost: Needle-nothing; piercing studs-nothing Jewelry: Hoops and studs Gauge: Purchased: Claire's, and various stores Cost: All together- $10 Aftercare: Dial soap Purchased: From my bathroom Cost: Nothing TOTAL COST: About $10 ![]()
