Title: Self gauging

Date Done: summer/early fall 2002
Story: Early last summer, I was sitting in driver's ed, bored out of my skull, when we saw this video. It was about some punk who had unfortunately been killed by a drunk driver. Anyway, he was able to fit a 35mm film canister in his main lobe piercing. I thought to myself "that looks awesome". So I started looking for info on it (this all happened shortly after I got extremely interested in DIY punk stuff, as well as political activism, so I knew some people to ask for info).
I eventually found a pretty good way to gauge your ears for basically no money. I took a tooth from an "afro pick" type comb, sharpened the end down, and pushed it thru my hole I'd had since 3rd grade. Then, I put in the end of a ball point pen ink tube. Every few days or so, I took off the tape, and wrapped fresh tape on, with an additional few layers. Eventually, I got to where it is now-about a 4 ga! What I have in it is a piece from the ink tube of a gel pen I found.
Needle: already had the whole for a long time (it was done by a pro)
Gauge: whatever gauge the ink tube from a bic pen is
Purchased: found all the stuff at my house
Cost: Nothing
Jewelry: currently a 4 ga. flesh tube

Aftercare: didn't really use any, just twisted it around often

TOTAL COST: a bit of blood. and some pain, but good pain....;)
