Story: Being no newbie to self piercing (or other piercing for that matter, up until my piercer had to move back to novascotia *his mum was really sick* I'd completed 6 months of an in shop apprenticeship) taking on the task of adding a 2nd hole in my right nostril was the perfect addition to my growing list of piercings.

So I headed down to my favourite store in this city (it's called Out of the Past, they sell body jewelry, some piercing supplies, vintage clothing, beads...its a fantastic store) to buy myself a few new piercing needles and a titanium nostril screw. I purchased my supplies and talked to the owner of the store, hung out for a bit, went next door to my friendly neighbourhood piercing parlour to get the screw autoclaved, then headed home to add a new hole to my face.

I came home, cleaned the bathroom counters with bleech, got out some gauze, and some latex gloves, and set my sterile equipment on the gauze. I marked where I wanted the hole to be with a non-toxic marker, cleaned the area, and proceeded to slide the needle through the cartlidge. A crunch and a pop later the needle was through. Being careful to not poke through my septum cartlidge, I moved the needle down far enough so that the sharp end was pointing out of my nostril, and I fed the screw through carefully sliding the needle out as I fed the screw through.

I cleaned up the small amount of blood that had started to form around the stud, threw out the gauze and my gloves and put the needles in my plastic sharps container to give to my mum to take to work to dispose of properly for me.

Then set off to admire the prettiness of having a double nostril project, which in a few weeks is going to be turned into a triple nostril project. as soon as I have enough cash to buy another nose screw.
