The time I worked for SICON (Schelde) in Taiwan might be the 2nd longer company since 1973. During August, 1982 to March, 1984, I worked in Taiwan's project of Schelde Industrial Construction (Holland) joint venture with a Scottland Co. Those four tanks project was in Ta Lin Pu Refinery of China Petroleum Corporation. I worked as a secretary and accountant in that project.
My English speaking was started from this company because I had to try to speak English with 4 westerners every working day.
Every time when I had different opinion with financial manager in accounting and tax matters. I had to prepare how to express my meaning in English in order to talk to project manager, Mr. Ir. J.A. Rietdijk. Mr. Rietdijk and financial manager were from Holland headquarter of Schelde Industrial Construction. Mr. Ir. J. A. Rietdijk would make a compromise between us. My English express ability was improved gradually by this kind of work pressure. In the 2nd part of this project, more westerners came from Scotland headquarter made me have chance to listen different accent from different western countries. That might be the reason I could listen different accent from different country when I joined International Coffee Morning or Koahsiung Hash Harriers House during 1990 to 1996 or later.
My character was shy to enjoy western culture in that time. Mr. Rietdijk was a good boss. Although I left job earlier before other 3 Chinese men, the time was close the ending of project. Mr. Rietdijk's another assistant, Mr Liu took over the final part. Besides me, Mr. Liu and other Chinese assistants might work another project in several years later. Some westerners might not like my character. I was conservative somewhat. I had met Mr. Liu one day. Mr. Rietdijk was appreciated my secretary part when he and Mr. Liu had to work in hotel later on. Mr. Rietdijk missed my typing letters for him when he needed to type by himself in hotel.
Actually, if I didn't meet the new superior of Nihon Kaiheiki Ind. Co.,(Taiwan) Ltd to replace the original superior to dismiss me, I should have longer time to work in that project of China Petroleum Corporation in Yun An. It was also a place I needed to speak English with Japanese colleagues every working day. Those Japanese engineers spoke very good English. I also needed to work with my ability in this company same as SICON Taiwan Business Representative Office. It had some hard time to work in engineering job site instead of nice office. However, these two engineering projects had reasonable parts to me. At least I had longer working time to compare with other companies later before I was forced to lose grocery house of Wu Chien Kung in January, 1991.
The 2nd auction of Nan Tze house will be in August 25, 1998 again. The lowest price is 2,800,000 this time. I had no salary to save. What kind of chance I have to rescue house? I had saving from salary to rescue a house of Wu Chien Kung in November, 1983 or Nan Tze house in July, 1997. However, why don't I have this kind of chance now? My heart was always lonely and sad. Who can help me?
