“What you doing?” A
voice, somewhat familiar asked me. I turned to see who it was. A young girl
with red hair and freckles stood beside me.
“Actually, I’m
things around the farm ready for the winter.”
“My Daddy said that
I could come here if I wanted to play with your kids.”
“He did, did he?” I
asked the little girl.
“Well I don’t know
about that, Skyla’s sitting in her spot waiting for her friend to show, and
Timmy’s in his little area. The others are inside still and aren’t coming out
for a little bit.”
“They
still in trouble?”
I nodded.
"You could hear
Auntie Patty and Uncle Buddy yelling at Forest so we all know what was going
on.” I nodded again, as I tried to do some of my work.
“I can tell who your
parents are by looking at you, but which one are you?”
“Rei,”
“That’s going to be interesting
around here,”
“Why?” Rei asked me
“Cause one of my
twins names are Rei.”
“You could call me
Rei Scarlet to avoid confusion.”
“That still wouldn’t
work because the other’s name is Scarlet.”
“Now why’d ya do that! I have to think of something else. But I guess for now
I can have fun with Skyla.” Rei said, as she took off. I laughed to myself as I watched the girl go
to find my daughter.
After about an hour
or so of work, I was startled by a large clap of thunder. I didn’t even have to
look up to see who was coming!
“Stormy!” I called
out as she landed. I noticed that she had an extra with her; I looked at her
with question, she nodded her answer. Rainbow had told me of Lightning, and the
other children that were around. I looked to her steed,
“If you want SkyDancer there’s plenty of oats, and hay in the barn if
you want some, and there's also plenty of grazing around here.” The stallion
waited for the okay before taking off.
“I think Rei just
headed out to find one of my children if you want to go and play, Lightning.”
She nodded and took off. Stormy and I sat and started to talk and get ourselves
caught up with everything that had been going on. Believe it or not, Stormy and
I were really close at one point until all the trouble started.
“Think that we
should check on them?”
“Lightning’s fine.”
Stormy said, without a second thought.
“I wouldn’t doubt it;
she’s from your blood. But mine when it's that still means
that their doing something there not supposed to.
“And you think that
mine’s an angel?”
“Now I didn’t say
that Stormy! I just said that mine were normally up to something although most
of them are supposed to be in their room right now.”
It was a good thing
that we had come in when we had. Skyla was getting mad at her older brother; he
was picking on her about something.
Lightning and Rei both were trying to stop him as well.
“Stop it Timmy!” She
shouted, trying to stay calm. Stormy and I watched as Skyla glared at Timmy
just as a stick lifted and flew straight, barely missing his lower half; it was close enough that he
still screamed. After just realizing that she had just done all this without
even picking up the stick, I didn’t know what to think about it. It was too new
to me. Obviously it was still new to Skyla because she just stood there in
shock that she actually did that.
“How did you do
that, Sky” I asked after recovering from the shock. Stormy looked at my
daughter with amusement.
“I don’t know,
Mamma, it just happened! Was it bad?”
“Well the fact that
your brother’s pinned to the tree isn’t, but there’s nothing that we can really
do but have you learn to control it that kind of thing so you don’t hurt
anyone, and the other is to see what else you can do.” Skyla nodded and sat
back down as I helped Timmy.
“You, Young Man, if
you don’t want trouble, need to find something else to do. And leave Skyla
alone.” I told him sternly. He nodded and ran as fast as he could away from the
rest of us.
As Stormy and I
headed back to the house, you could hear Lightning speaking.
“If they hadn’t
shown up, I would have floored him for you.”
