I would like to thank Ulisa
for her wonderful assistance
“I can’t believe
that Ursa made me stay with you.” Buddi complained sitting on the ground,
watching Timmy wonder a little farther. Neither cub was
liking this. One couldn’t stand the other. Ursa had thought this might
do them both some good, as well as give her some peace. The two of them
couldn’t go five minutes in the same room together without arguing.
Buddi sighed as he
leaned against a tree that was behind him and started playing his flute.
“I see that you
still have or baby toy, Mamma’s boy.” Buddi pretended that he didn’t hear the
child, and continued playing. Timmy didn’t like this, and took hold of the instrument
and looked squarely into Buddi’s eyes.
“I have a score to
settle with you.”
“For
what?”
“For that little
trick you pulled the other day with me,” Timmy grabbed hold of the front of
Buddi’s tunic tightly. “You thought that you could get away with that did you,
Mamma’s boy?” Buddi glared at the child, he didn’t want to fight,
“You’ll cut it out
if you know what’s good for you,” Buddi said yanking the clothing from the
child and turning to the opposite direction, then started to play again.
“Get up and fight
me, Mamma’s boy!” Timmy commanded kicking Buddi in his back.
“Come on that nishien’s not here.” That did it! Buddi put his flute in
his belt and stood, staring at the child angrily,
“You better stop
calling her that, Kid!”
“What’s the matter
Mamma’s Boy? Going to go crying home to that nichien?”
Buddi charged at Timmy expecting to be able to pin the cub down like he did the
other day. But Timmy expected it this time and dodged out of the way adding a
fist slamming into Buddi’s back, sending the older cub to the ground. Buddi
stood back up, glaring at the cub. Then charging at Timmy both landed on the
ground rolling about punching and hitting. Buddi had him pinned again. Only
this time, Buddi told him that it had to stop and he
had enough of this foolishness. Buddi then stood up not realizing how close to
the edge of the cliff they were. Timmy stood and shoved Buddi backwards and off
the side.
Buddi landed with a
hard thud on a ledge that hadn’t been to far from the top, he tried to get up
to climb out.
“
OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” Buddi
cried out as he tried to stand, he couldn’t the pain in his left leg was too
great. The same
type of pain was also going through is right arm. He called to Timmy, who was
still standing and looking over the edge.
“What’s the matter
Mamma’s boy? Can’t get out? Can’t go crying to your Mamma!”
Timmy said in answer then walked away.
“HELP!” Buddi cried out “URSA HELP ME!” He cried out
again. “GRITTI GRUBBI! HELP ME! MAMMA URSA!” He cried
out several times, and now, Buddi’s voice was starting to go hoarse from
screaming for so long, the sun was starting to go down from what he could see.
Buddi wanted to cry. He was cold, and he
hurt. Buddi tried again, to call for help.
This time when he
did he could hear footsteps coming in his direction.
“Buddi?” The voice called out, Buddi knew this voice,
Ursa’s. He looked up to her.
“Ursa, help me!”
“What happened?”
“That little brat,
surprised me with and attack and shoved me over the edge, and left me here.”
Ursa growled to herself, she was going to kill that cub, she turned back to
Buddi.
“Why didn’t you
climb up yourself?”
“I can’t,” He called
from the place he was sitting. “ This time Ursa had a
clear view of her cub. His Left leg was bent at an odd angel she knew it must
be broken. Ursa looked around to see what she had to work with. Seeing a sturdy
tree, she took a rope that she held in her belt, to the tree, and throw the
other end to the ledge, then climbed down.
“OOOOOOOOOUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ursa watch it!” Buddi snapped. As she picked him up. She chose to ingnore his cry of pain for the moment, and started up the
mountain. Then carried him back to sickbay for Grubbi to tend
to him. Once seeing that Buddi was alright, and resting. Ursa discided it was time to go deal with Timmy.
The door slamming
open was so sudden that Timmy jumped a little. Before he had a chance to react,
Ursa stormed her way in, her eyes burning. Her face wasn't red; it was white,
which was a color Timmy'd never seen it turn.
He turned his back
away, not about to let her know this but she would have none of it. Snagging
him by the scuff of his neck, she turned him around and spoke in a low,
dangerous voice.
"Why. Did. You. Leave. Him."
"That Mama's boy can-"
Ursa slapped him, hard. She growled and grabbing Timmy by his ear, she proceeded to pull him along until they were in a room down the hall. Ursa slammed the door so hard, Timmy didn't dare to run.
"He broke his ankle and his arm, Timba!"
Timmy froze; that was the first time Ursa'd called him by his real name. Turning around, she had a dulled sword in her right hand. She grabbed Timmy hard and pulled him over to her. Her eyes narrowed and before Timmy could say a word, Ursa threw him over her left thigh and slapped his backside with the flat of the blade, hard. Timmy could not repress his scream of pain. His eyes brimmed with tears.
As Ursa brought the blade down a second time, she hissed,
"Did you even _think_ about the consequences?! What if I hadn't found Buddi? It's fall, Timmy! Do you _know_ how cold it gets?! Grubbi doesn't know if Buddi caught a cold or not but it wouldn't surprise me. And what about wild animals? Buddi was immobile…he could have died out there! And know what they would make you?"
Ursa smacked him a final time and then yanked his head up, glaring at him whole heartedly.
"A _murderer_ Timba. If Buddi had died, his death would have been on your hands. At seven years."
Timmy made no reply but Ursa could see the sudden realization in his eyes. She dragged him down to his room and pulled him in, making him sit on his bed,
"Buddi will be bedridden for nearly two months Timmy. If you so much as set one foot in his room without his or my consent, mark my words, that spanking I just gave you will feel like a pillow tap! Do you understand me?!"
"Are you threatening me-"
Ursa yanked him up so fast, he stopped. Ursa eyes narrowed and she said,
"Don't. Timba Ian…_gummies_ do not act this way. _Gummies_ are not this cruel. But I know what is."
She threw Timmy down and stormed out. She turned at the doorway and said,
"Humans are this cruel Timba. I hope yer proud of yourself."
She slammed the door on her way out, leaving a cub with a look of more pain than he'd ever imagined on his face and horror in his eyes at the realization:
He was acting like a human.
