“Tanjia,
pay attention to what you’re doing.”
“It’s hard Mamma,
not as much fun as when Timmy’s here.” Normally, when it came to schoolwork, I
had to chase him down and that took me about an hour. I was wondering how it
was going with him that way, I’d find out in a few days. I miss him myself at
this moment, not much action. Not with Skyla waiting for Cubbi’s return, and
Kenya giving the silent treatment, to everyone, and Timmy being
gone. It’s too quiet, and calm. I was missing the action. I know the children
were. Their attitudes were showing it. Tanija, normally does anything with out complaint. But as I walked
from the room I could see some work I had asked her to do hours ago not even
touched.
“Tanni,
please get these dishes put away.”
“I will,”
“That’s what you
said two hours ago, do it now.” She slumped her way into the kitchen. I headed
into the living room to check on the younger ones. I could hear the banging of
the cuboard doors slam hard.
“Tanjia,
that’s enough!” I scolded grabbing hold of her hands and taking her to the
table,
‘Sit, I want to know
what’s going on.”
“Nothing”
“Nothing? It’s not nothing, Tanjia, it’s not like you to act this way." Seeing her
wince, I backed down a little. I picked her up and sat down, putting her into
my lap.
“I didn’t mean to
sound like I was yelling. Please tell me what’s wrong.” I spoke with her gently
as I stroked her hair. I thought I knew what it was but I wanted her to tell
me. Seeing that she wasn’t going to answer, I just held her for a little while.
After I felt that she had calmed, I let her up and had her finish what she was
doing, she was still slamming the stuff around but not as hard. I guess the
silent reassurance is what she needed. Although I did grab her hands and told
her I didn’t want her to be slamming things. She just nodded. I left to see
what the rest were up to.
I had to laugh when
I saw Bliss and Chase, one was using the other to pull themselves up off the
floor, once that one would be up, and the other would try using the one that
was standing. That only resulted in pulling that one down; it was funny. They
seemed to be having a good time so I just let them go.
“Mamma!” I turned to Shanda’s
voice to see what she was calling me about. Scarlet was trying to head for the
stairs.
“Your too little for
those yet, Scarlet.” I said as I took her to another part of the room and set
her down. She looked at me with the look that said.
“I could handle that if you would have left me
alone!” I had to laugh as I
told her that it would happen in time.
