“Mamma, can we go
play with the kids in Rainbowland?”
“I don’t mind, just
be back before dark.”
“We will! I’ll see
to it.”
“I know you will, Tanni.” The little boy that happened to be at my feet began
shouting,
“Go! GO!” Smiling I
looked back to Tanjia,
“I don’t mind,
Mamma, it’s kind of funny how he adds entertainment there.”
“Yeah, Patty keeps
telling Buddy that she wants one like him.” Shanda said,
grinning as Tanjia picked up the baby.
Me? I set about
doing chores.

“Timmy, get up!”
“Forget it!” The boy
yelled as he pulled the covers over his head. “There’s nothing that can make me
get up out of this bed!”
“I’m not going to
tell you again!” Ursa picked the cub up and dropped him on the floor.
“I expect you at
breakfast in ten minutes” She said as she walked out of the room.
“Down
to breakfast in ten? Yeah right!” Timmy said to himself as he climbed back into
his bed.
From the other side
of the door, Buddi winced at the thought of what would happen if he tried that.
One thing was for sure, Ursa WASN’T going to like this. He turned and grabbed
his flute, and headed to breakfast himself.

“Bliss?you helping me?” I asked the soon to be toddler as
she pulled all the clean clothing out of the basket and onto the floor. I
laughed and pulled her into my lap, then took a one of her shirts gathered her
little hands into mine, and let her fold it herself.
“What a good girl!”
I set her back down to try and get the rest done, but Bliss crawled right back
up with clothing in hand,
“What, you like
this?” Hearing Rei, I set Bliss down again and headed to see what she wanted.
When I came back, Bliss had climbed into the basket, and was playing with the
clothes. I had to laugh, seeing no harm; I just let her be just, and headed to
make dinner.
On my way past, I
could see Kenya outside sitting on the barn still holding her doll, that she pulled from the hay the night before. I was trying to figure out what was going on.
I knew that must have something to do with not being with her brother, but I
had never seen her this way. Normally, Kenya’s more self reliant, more sure of
herself. I headed out.
“I thought you would
have gone to play with Forest or something?”
“No, I want my
brother”
“I know that and
you’ll have him soon. But for now, do you want to have her over for the night?”
“No!” I gathered her
into a hug then stood,
“Alright. I have to get back in there; I left Bliss by
herself with the laundry.”

Timmy threw the
scrub brush across the room, angrily.
“Illian tachien nishien.
Who does she think she is? Bossing me around like this.” He mumbled to himself.
“What was that?”
Timmy looked up to see Grubbi standing there.
“None
of your mijit business. “
Timmy held his cheek
where the older Barbic's hand and connected with his face. Grubbi got to the
boy’s level,
“You listen here,
that type of language will only get you into trouble.” With that, Grubbi went
off to prepare dinner.

Scarlet and I were
sitting contentedly in the rocking chair when the group of kids came back. I
had to smile at the sight of all those kids being as dirty as they were. I
stood up.
“Hold it, not one of
you is setting a foot in here without getting a bath first! To
that bath, right now!”
‘‘What about
clothes?”
“I’ll get you some,
Shanda,” I told her as I pointed to the back of the house. She sighed as she
headed that way.
