I headed into the
children’s room and woke my son,
“Let’s go, my Son.”
I told him, trying to fight the tears that I was feeling. He was angry; I could
tell that just by his actions.
“I’m sorry, it's
come down to this, but it's not forever, just a couple of weeks." On his
way out of the room, he stopped at Kenya’s bedside,
“We’ve never been
apart for anything.”
“Like I said, Timmy,
You’ll be back real soon.” He just glared at me so I told him it was time to go;
it was getting to be too much for me. I would back down if we stalled any
longer.
Once we activated
the time portal over on our side, we stepped through. I couldn’t believe the
sight. It was huge! And beautiful. Once I had my
sights taken in, I told my son that it was time to head to the gates. A tall
Barbic Gummi stopped us,
“What do you want
here?”
“I need to speak
with Ursa,” As I spoke, the woman pushed her way through. I noted that Buddi was behind her. She turned
to him,
“Take Timmy, and
show him around, while the two of us talk.” I could tell that Buddi did not
want to do that, but did it anyways.
As Ursa and I sat
talking, the door opened up. And one of the younger Barbics poked their head in
then drug Timmy into the room.
“I hate to bother
you, but, this guy was caught in the weapon’s room.” Ursa opened her mouth as
she stood.
“Don’t worry Ursa,
Buddi’s the one who came and got me. He didn’t go in.” Ursa turned to my son,
“For starters, YOU,
Timmy ARE NOT permitted in the weapon’s room without an adult.” She add a hard
smack to his backside, Timmy stood there in shock for a moment, then a teardrop
threatened to fall as he tried to rub the soreness out. He nodded his head.
Seeing that it was
getting late, I walked over to him telling him I would be back in about a week
to see how he was doing. Then I knelt to his level, hugged him as tight as I
could, and kissed both his cheeks , and forehead.
Then I headed
towards home, but not without stopping and looking back more than once or
twice.
“Mamma, you home! I
can’t find my brother!”
“He’ll be home soon,
Kenya.” I told her. Taking her in my lap and holding her close. I knew this was
going to be hard on her.
“Sweetheart, Timmy’s
just going to train with Ursa, for a couple weeks that’s
all; he hasn’t left you. The little girl
just buried her face into my chest and cried. After a little more, I pulled her
away and looked into her eyes,
“You’ve cried
enough, now you’re going to make yourself sick.”
“I want my brother!”
She cried out, her hand hitting me.
“Kenya…” she was now
in a full fledged screaming fit. I didn’t know that girl’s lungs could get that
loud.
“Kenni,” I said
gathering close to me again.
“No!” She shouted as
she shoved herself out of my lap and ran out the room then out the door. I
watched as she headed to the barn.
“Mamma, do you want
me to talk to her?”
“Thank you Darcy,
but I think it's best if we just let her be for a little while. You and Tanni get the others ready for bed for me. And if you could
read to them upstairs tonight that would be great.” Both the ten year old and
the thirteen year old nodded and did as I asked.
After letting the
child have about fifteen minutes to herself, I headed out to see her asleep
where I first found her and Timmy, on a haystack sleeping. In her hand, she was holding
something I had never seen, a tiny little tiger doll. How she had kept that
from me was beyond me, but I wasn’t caring. I just gathered her into my arms and
carried her to my own bed for the night.
