“Elliot!” He spirit
filled child stopped jumping around as stared at me,
“I said to do your
school work!”
“I am, it right
here!” The little boy held up one of his workbooks. He then put the pages on
his shoulders and started running around again.
Normally I didn’t mind his antics, but they were getting more
distracting by the day. I walked over to him and took the book in one hand and
him in the other. I was about to scold him a bit more when he looked up with
his chestnut eyes shimmering,
“I love you Mamma.”
He said with a sheepish grin on his face, I sighed,
“Go sit down and do
this, and stay seated, “ I then turned to Darcy seeing what she was doing, then
headed over to Joy, as I worked with her. To of the others started to snicker.
I looked over to see what was going on, and a hand flew back to the table
almost to fast for me to see, I glared at them as they all started back on
their work. As I started working with her again, the snickers started again. I
looked straight at
him glaring,
“Sorry Mamma,” He
said as he started back, I headed over to him to see how far he had gotten,
“Elliot Ixavior, you have nothing done on this paper, are you
having trouble?” He shook his head no, all he and
Skyla had to do was write some of their letters and number, since they were
just starting out at the kindergarten/ first grade levels. With him being new
to the house, I wanted to see what he knew first before I got him started on anything else. But
so far I couldn’t get him to sit down long enough to really get something done.
He was always joking, or playing around. I decided enough was enough. He was
starting to work on it at that point with me standing over him. I spoke to him
gently but sternly enough that he would understand that I meant what I had
said.
“Elliot, you have to
get that done before you can get up from the table.” If they handed out awards
for Puppy eyes, he would win that’s for sure, he seems to be a pro at them. I
looked up a little bit, and then back down at him.
“That’s not going to
work this time, I mean what I say, you don’t get it done, you
don’t get up.” he
sighed and started doing his work at that moment. I headed over to Joy, she seemed to lean into her book a little bit to much.
I gently lifted her chin. And looked into her eyes,
“Are you alright,
Joy?” She nodded, and tried to look at the book again. I watched her bring the
book back to her
face again.
“Do you do this all
the time?” She nodded. I looked around the room I had to see if I thought I was
right.
“Joy, tell me what
this word is?”
“I held the book
away from her a bit. Her eyes squinted, then she
looked at me,
“I thought so, your
having trouble seeing aren’t you? “ She nodded.
“I’m going to take
you into town tomorrow Joy, go ahead onto bed, were going to have to get up
pretty early.”
She nodded and
headed to do as I asked.
“Darcy, I’m also
going to be leaving the twins with you, its getting to cold to have them out
there like that.” She nodded. I walked
over to her and kissed the top of her head.
“Thanks, your such a great help.” She grinned,
I also knew that she loved the fact that I trusted her so much. I then turned
to the younger ones,
“If any of you give
Darcy a hard time at all, I promise you that you will get your hide tanned like
you wouldn’t believe. So I expect you to behave yourselves and do as your asked.”
“Tanni,
I’m asking you to help Darcy out with these ones and the babies.” She nodded
and beamed as I told
her that. I rocked and feed the babies and put them all in their
beds, Chace and Bliss had been moved into the living
room, and the twins were still in my room. Although Chace
was more towards the stairs since I would be moving him up there some time
soon. And Bliss was still more towards my room. Then headed
to bed myself.
