I sat quietly in the rocking chair with Rei, it was pretty late in the evening and for some reason, she just couldn’t seem to settle. No matter what I did. Whether it was changing her, feeding, hey you name it, nothing was working. Just as she started drifting to sleep a knock came to the door. I groaned since it woke the baby completely back up. I sighed as I heard to the door.

“This yours?” I looked behind the lady, Shanda was behind her, my mouth dropped,

“Yes is she is!” I looked sternly at my daughter, I knew she had run off earlier because of an argument, but in order to teach her a lesson, I didn’t go after her, I had planned to stay up for her, and if she didn’t come back I’d gone back after her then, and it had only been  a few hours at least. I wondered how far she actually got. I motioned for her to sit on the couch, as I also shifted the wailing infant to the other side to give that half a break. I asked the woman to come in for something to drink,

“The child had traveled to my home which are just on the other side of these woods near the south end. “

“That would be away from the lake, and towards town, right?” The woman nodded. I looked over at my daughter who looked at me with her blue eyes shimmering with tears,

“Save them Shanda, I don’t want to hear it.” I said sternly as I listened to the woman. Once she finished talking, and had left I turned to my daughter,

“Go stand in the corner in the kitchen, I’m far to angry to deal with you at the moment.” She didn’t have to be told twice, that little girl ran.

I looked at Rei who was still as loud as ever.

“And you need to stop, Rei” I said sternly but gently to the four month old that was in my arms as I headed over to the rocking chair with her, and started trying to soother her again.  While I figured out how I was going to fix this running off business once and for all. I looked down to see the infant had finally fell asleep. After putting her down in the cradle that was by my chair, I walked into the kitchen,

“Shanda,  come here, I decided I’m not going to spank you, nor am I going to yell, however, you are going to be one very busy little girl for awhile, as well for the next month your going to bed early, and for tonight, there’s no dinner for you, Go get ready for bed, and get in now!”

“Mamma,..

“Shanda, do you want me to add to it?” The little girl shook her head, and ran off. I sighed as I thought for a moment, after getting a great idea, I ran up and told, Darlita that I would be back in a little while, then ran out and saddled up one of the horses, and took off, I knew what area she would be in tonight! I just had to get to it while she was still on the ground.  Coaching the horse faster, I silently cursed myself for loosing that blasted key. I pulled to the horse to halt, SkyDancer stood with his winter rider on his back, I walked my horse up to hers.

Then talked to her for a moment. Her eyes went wide.

“Oh that would be great, but do you know how badly she would get you back?” I nodded,  then said.

“It maybe awhile before she even knows what’s happening. She nodded,

“Alright, send some of them to me tomorrow, and then we’ll start those plans, and only send a couple at a time that way no one notices that there’s something going on.” Stormy said smiling. I nodded and started to turn home.
