“Jacien, cician!” I said as I seen the three new girls when I walked out of the room. They were all staring at me with question,

“Si ucien aez muian” I said as I reached my hands out to them. Melody was the one who reached hers out in response. I smiled back to her.

“Morning, Mamma!” I turned,

“Hi Sunshine!” I reached out to her, and she let me pick her up and hug her tight. I then put her down whispering something to her, she nodded and ran. Skyla has always seemed to be great when I had brought new cubs in. They watched the two of us, I motioned for them to come to us. Cyanne came over and sat with us first. Skyla came in holding one of the kittens from the newest litter from the Mamma Cat round here, she put it into Cyanne’s lap.

“Kitty nice.” Sky said  as she stroked the small animal. Cyanne seemed to understand her a little bit. And touched the cat with her fingers, it started to purr, this scared her and the other two, I took the cat away from them long enough for them to calm down, then walked over to them with it again.

“It won’t hurt you,” I said even though I knew it would do very little, but I still wanted them to learn a little bit, and I knew this would take small steps. 

“cubas’s nice, it’s likes it when you pet it.” I took Skyla’s hand to show them that it did the same thing to her. I couldn’t believe these kids were scared of a little kitten like that. I was still wondering who made them like this.

 

I motioned for them to come with me, while I made breakfast,

“Jacien!” I was surprised to see Timmy up,  he walked over to the triplets,

“ais Fycan,” then pointed to them, as I was about to scold him, not knowing what he’s doing,

“aez Fycan” He then hugged me. I still wasn’t use to this side of the cub. But understood what he was doing, he was trying to show these girls that it was alright, and that was telling them that I was now theirs as well.

“Anyone else up yet, Timmy?”

“Not really,”  He said offering his hand to the girls,

*Ursa had done wonders with this boy!* I thought. Two of the three took his hand, and followed him to the table as I made breakfast for everyone. As we ate, I was trying to figure out how in the world I was going to tell Ulisa about these cubs.  Just as I was thinking about it I heard a knock at the door, I excused myself, to answer, telling the other children that Cyanne, Chyanne, and Melody get to have as much as they wanted.

I about flipped out seeing that Ulisa was standing there,

“How does one DO that?” I asked “, I needed to talk to you about something very important! But couldn’t find away out there to tell you. The first reason is this,” I said motioning for her to follow me into the bedroom. Once I we were in there, I introduced Sukura to her

Ulisa's mouth dropped at the sight, her eyes bulging at the sight of the tiny girl, "Sweet Gum above!"

Ulisa chuckled, "doesn't surprise me. I see what you mean by her Barbic side...how are you caring for her>

well I give her that milk that's in that cooler over there, every 1/2 hour with this I showed her something that was l like an eye dropper but a bit bigger, and showed her why, the infant couldn't suckle, and she stays in this thing when no one's holding her

Ulisa nodded, reaching into her sack. Pulling out three roots, she said, handing them over, "Grind these up and mix them with her food...it'll give her nutrients for both sides of heritage”

I nodded here you want to hold her ?Ulisa nodded, holding out her hands to take the small cub

“silly Baby, you wiggled out of that blanket again, how do you think your suppose to stay warm?” I asked her laughing, as I wrapped it around her. Ulisa chuckled and said, "Yep, she _definitely_ has Barbic in her. Barbics hate to be confined.",

 I know and her will to live I believe is also her Barbic side

I handed Ulisa the cup with the warm milk and the dropper, just put it on the side of her cheek and it'll go down correctly

Ulisa nodded again and cradled the girl and spoke a few words to her in Barbic and then knelt down and inhaled her scent deeply. The baby breathed in her own scent. Turning to Selena, she said, "Barbics depend on scent more than sight...let her smell you a lot and she'll learn to trust that scentI really don't think there's a time where I'm not holding her, I stay up all night with her as well. Sometimes not just feeding but just talking and singing to her

Ulisa nodded again, "good...hold her close so she can get your scent. And are you going to let her learn Barbic or just common?"

 well the other Barbics here speak both,   so she'll get both

Have them speak Barbic only around her and have the others use common...don't be surprised if she picks up Barbic first though...most cubs doI don't think that's going to be a problem I told her taking the newborn and putting her back in the crib

 Ulisa chuckled and nodded, "Yes...just as a heads up...she should pick up common a little bit after she starts talking...probably two or three months later

Nodded gesturing her to follow me to the kitchen Ulisa followed, moving her sack to her shoulder

As we headed into the kitchen, Elliot Ixavior came flying past us, once again he had his sister’s bra on his eyes, and this time he was wearing Timmy’s underwear as a hat, but only Darlita was chasing him. I stopped the cubs,

“Darcy, you know better than to run after your younger siblings like that,” I scolded, I turned ignoring her as I turned to my son,

“and YOU young man, have be told several times that your not to be doing that,” I knelt to his level  to look in his eyes as I talked to him. I wanted him to understand me loud and clear this time,

“Elliot Ixavior, You know I don’t mind your making costumes out of what evers in the house, but this is the last time I’m telling you, that taking the others underclothing is NOT permitted. If I see it again, I will be forced to punish you.” He nodded and handed the things back to the respective owners.

“Sorry, I don’t know where he gets it.” I said as the girls came into view.

“These Ulisa are Melody, Cyanne, and Chyanne. .  Ulisa knelt to the obvious Barbic cubs and greeted them in Barbic, "Jacien, cicians."

They repeated  it “I was about to try and give them a bath if you want to follow, you might be able to spot injuries that I can not.”  Ulisa followed, keeping a careful distance but still staying close. She could tell these cubs were nervous. She stretched her hand towards them, palm up. She knew this sign was the same in every culture of Barbic...a sign of peace and that you trust them enough to expose the veins on your wrist to them

.As soon as the water was running, all three cubs looked at it and backed up, I chucked a little, and touched it myself, saying,

“Natur-Hya,” They stared at me, I looked at the three of them,

“hucion macos Melody,” I called to her, knowing that most likely if she touched the water, the other two might as well. They seemed to work that way if two of them were unsure of something the third would check it out, then the others would soon follow.

“They haven’t really let me touch them yet,” I told Ulisa, so she would know how far I was with them. 

Ulisa nodded, "I'm not expecting them to touch me

Ulisa knelt down again and decided to use an old trick her Nana used to use. She took out a small herb, bit the top off and a beautiful calming aura filled the room. The cubs' tense muscles relaxed and they looked at one another. Ulisa spoke again "<Little ones, you may test it yourselves...we simply want to get that dirt off. I swear we won't hurt you or may Eruta slice my tree down..on my blood as a Barbic>"

< this no bad?> one spoke quietly

"<No...it is like warm rain. It will not hurt. It is like a large puddle...only warm and clean.>"

<Puddle?>

 <Like rain all in one area...>" she stuck her own hand in and removed it, showing them that it caused no pain>

 <No, I promise..it's warm...it won't hurt” Melody slowly reached in and touched it and jerked back out, I looked at Ulisa my heart really aching for this little ones

I wondered what could have happened to these little ones to make them fear so,

 

Ulisa smiled, "<It's warm but it won't hurt..>" finally, she did the one thing she thought might finally convince these cubs. Cupping the warm water, she splashed it on her face, the most sensitive spot on her body. She turned to them again, a smile on her face Melody looked at her stunned and touched it again then nodded

Ulisa smiled and then smiled at the girl's sisters

 they shook there head but watched their sister to see what would happen

Ulisa turned to Melody. "<It does not hurt, does it?>"

she shook her head an waited to see what would happen next, but her sisters shook their heads no still. I looked to Ulisa to see if it would be alright to get her undressed yet and let her in first

Ulisa turned to Melody. "<It does not hurt, does it?>"

Ulisa spoke to Melody again, "<Why don't we show your sisters that it's fine. Do you want to go first? We won't make you though, little one.>"

she slowly nodded

Ulisa gently said, "<All right...do you want me to take off your clothes here or in the bath?>"

the child looked at her stunned

Ulisa gently touched what she had on "<We need to clean your fur under these. Then we'll clean these. But we have to wash them apart.>"

<wash?>

"<see all the mud on them?>"

<Mud? Not Mud fur>

Ulisa pointed to the black color and the white, "<That's your fur colors. Mud is brown, it's wet dirt. See?>" she took a handful of dirt from the floor, wet it a little and wiped it on her own hand, turning it the color of the mud the cubs had all over them the child stared stunned that part of what she thought was her fur was taken off

Melody took the cloth in her hand and touched it as if she had never touched one before

Ulisa smiled and pointed to Melody's fingertip, where the water had taken off a small bit of dirt and mud

"<See...it doesn't hurt. But it will make you feel good to get clean.>"

<that?> She asked pointed to the toys in the tub

Ulisa says, "<These are toys...you can play with them.>" seeing their confusion, she took a small boat and said, "<See, it is a mini boat that you can steer around.>"

<toys? boat? play?>

Ulisa shoves it in the water, showing them how it moved the child looked at it stunned then touched it herself, <I do? there?>?"

 "<Yes, you can...just push it a little.>"

 she leaned over the side to get a better look Ulisa smiled at her, to let her but she stayed close enough'

"<Just for a little bit...then I'll give it back. I will even let you watch me until we give them back if you want.>"  she nodded,

Ulisa I have new clothing for them over there as well,

Ulisa nods, "yes, but I don't want them to think I'm going to take away things of theirs right now" to Melody, she smiled, "<Yes, I promise.>" She gently took the girl's shirt and waited until she gave a nod before gently taking it off.

"I see." the girl nodded When Ulisa lifted the girl's shirt off, she could see several bare spot on this girl's chest and stomach, there were also several fairly fresh bruises, three really bad gashes

 Ulisa said gently, "<You can sit down, little one. Relax.>"

<Just sit on your bottom, slowly.>" she sits down herself

Ulisa can I do something? Ulisa nodded just tell me

what is it you want me to do? Ulisa thought for a moment, "I might clean her standing. Can you get me a hand towel?" I nodded and did that

as I came back I noted her back, "Ulisa look at her back"

Ulisa gently took it and then slowly rubbed it over the girl's arm, at  first, taking off the mud gently.Ulisa moved her head and saw many straps and cuts on her back. she winced herself and tried to keep herself calm

I walked over slowly, Ulisa check that one out," I pointed to the long slash down her back that went from her neck to bottom She growled as she slowly wiped down the girl's body, being gentle especially when going over the cuts

 the child d yelped and cried when it came to going over the long one Ulisa says quickly, "<I'm sorry, little one. I need to get this clean so that it won't hurt anymore.>"

< no more> she cried out Ulisa gently blew on the girl's back and wiped some herb juice on it which was a numbing solution the child cried more as this was going on

I place the first aid box beside Ulisa

Ulisa gently whispered in her ear, "<I know it hurts little one...it will stop in a minute>"

 

 

 

 "<You're good little one...those cuts hurt, don't they?>" Ulisa translated to Selena

 I looked to the child with tears in my own eyes, Ulisa what kind of monster did this? Ulisa shook her head, "I wish I knew." To Melody, she said, "<You aren't being punished. I know those wounds hurt. I'm putting this on them so they will heal and not hurt anymore"

Ulisa added, "<You all three are beautiful, gorgeous and precious cubs, you're safe here. Selena and I are going to help you to stop feeling afraid. We're going to stop the pain. You're safe.>"

 I turned to the cubs and told them they could even call me Mamma if they'd like then told Melody that if she would like she could take my hand if it would help

Ulisa finished the girl's cleaning and wound tending quickly and then said, "<Look, sweet one.>" she gently directed the cub's face to the mirror, "<See, you're beautiful.>"

<how?>

<You're gorgeous...you're unique...>" Melody knitted her brows for a minute, then nodded and looked to her sisters who both walked over to Ulisa and nodded at the same time

Ulisa gently helped them out of their clothes and into the bath together "Ulisa they've got the same slash on their backs as well I told her looking at the other wounds as well

as she cleaned the first Ulisa pulled three really big roaches out of the fur  Ulisa winced herself as she worked and she said, in common, "Let's get them comfortable, then we'll ask.." I nodded  and I managed to get Melody into my lap I smiled as she sat in my lap staring into my face this is terrible, Ulisa why would anyone, and who could do this to a child

Ulisa sighed deeply, as she finished cleaning and patching up the girls, "I can't understand that...

I mean look at them who would want to harm them

Ulisa sighed, "I wish I knew but I'd wager humans.."

humans? Yes...I think only humans could possible by this cruel...and the marks made on these girls are made with a larger blade than what a Gummi uses

 I see then that explains why my friend Stormy couldn't get them out of the tree trunk they were in Ulisa nodded, "yes...it also explains why they came with you and seemed to calm to me...it would probably our Gummi and my Barbic heritage I see

 Ulisa nodded again as she finished with the girls

Could you translate for me again? She nodded again

would you girls like to lay down for a bit before anything else goes on? I asked with them looking a bit tired

Ulisa translated

 they nodded, <can we put you to bed? Three of you can sleep together, in the same bed if you'd like

Ulisa smiled to the girls they nodded and headed up the latter, we followed Is this the first that you've been up here?

Ulisa paused, "I'm not sure...

this is actually where all the kids sleep, I showed her a room that could fit at least 60 bears in

Ulisa shook her head, "you're insane you know

Ulisa just chuckled in answer

whets so funny, what I was ten when I built this place

The fact that you can and probably will take on so many children I nodded and grinned, I never had a real family of my own until I got these kids

Ulisa nodded and helped the three girls into a large bed  as we headed back down I spoke, I wish I could protect all the children in this world

 Ulisa nodded, "But you can only help the few..."

I know that still wish I could," "Mamma!" Skyla yelped jumping in to my arms, "The underwear man is coming to get me!" I looked to see Elliot running through, I glanced at him, "What you said not to mess with my sisters, you didn't say anything about mine, he said as he jumped at me trying to get to the little girl,  Ulisa grabbed hold of Elliot's arm and looked him right in the eye, "She meant leave _all_ the kids here alone because they're _all_ your siblings now, Elliot Ixavior

oh man! He said as he took off as direction

Ulisa looked at Selena like 'how do you handle him?'

with a lot of creativity that's for sure Ulisa nodded and started to stroke the cubs' hair as the girls curled up together

would you help me find the one that did all this to these girls?

Ulisa nodded, "with pleasure...

If you want you can come back with me Sukura needs to eat again

I know when I cut Sukura's blood mother open to get her, that she seemed as if she was running, and she also had the same markings as the girls do

I told her heading into the baby's room where one of my other cubs jump out at me,

Ulisa blinked and then frowned, a hand to her chin in thought

Kenya Elisa, you know your not to be in here playing right now not with the baby in here." scolded giving  her a smack on her backside then apologized to Ulisa Ulisa just nodded, "trust me, I know how kids can be...and I think those markings probably mean something then said if she would like she could go get her children and bring them here until we figure this out what could it mean Ulisa said, "reminds me of a brand, a symbol of property...like a slave

 Ulisa nodded and quickly left I quickly finished with the newborn and then went to setting up stuff for my all those children to eat. When Ulisa got back I greeted all them, Ulisa was followed by twelve children, a mix of Gummi and other races. she held two Barbic cubs in her arms Let me help you with one of those babies

Ulisa chuckled and handed Sonni, the yellow boy over. He was still pretty small but was about a year and a half old

children if you'd like something to eat we have all kinds of fruits and things on the table, as well as juice, and there milk in the fridge if you'd like help yourselves

the cubs looked at Ulisa for her permission and she swiftly nodded. They all ran off, the cubs looked at Ulisa for her permission and she swiftly nodded. They all ran off, except for four Barbic quadruplets and a tall panther girl, about eleven but towering over even Ulisa

"Mamma, can I show them

Ulisa smiled at Skyla and Charity ran out, back to Ulisa. This girl looked like a lion cub, complete with a tail

Skyla looked at her, whets that?

 "I'm a throwback...my kind are catlike so I got a tail by chance!" She giggled and moved it so I looked to Ulisa, while these little ones are doing this should we get our things started

Ulisa nodded and said, "Charity, you understand that Faith is in charge." Charity nodded but the quadruplets followed Ulisa inside

I'm not wanting to say anything yet. to the younger ones Faith smiled at Selena, "Don't worry Miss Selena. Everything will be fine."

 Ulisa nodded and said, "I know...but these four are still sos cared That's understandable, and Faith you don't have to call me Miss, you can just call me Selena

Faith nodded, "All right, Ma'am. I mean...Selena

just come and get me if they give you trouble, and watch out for that one, I pointed to Skyla she likes to go into the barn and hide out in the rafters if that happens just have someone come in and get me

Faith merely chuckled, "I think I can handle it." In answer to Skyla's look, she picked Charity up in one hand and Skyla in the other, holding them over her head and walking over it?  I told her once inside

Joy and Tanni both came out, Tanni carrying a very small wolf pup and showed it to them, "I got more of these guys, in the mud room, would you  like to see them, theirs also kittens that way," Tanni told them, Joy just told them they could play with her, or she could read to them

all four cried, "NYIE!!!" Three of them clung to one, the leader-like one, Justice

"Tanni go take the pup and put him in his box" I told her, gently. I thought for a few minutes, then asked for an idea

once we were out side I said alright lets see what you can do

Honur takes a breath and does a backbend so the toe of her right foot touches the back of her left ankle

 I stand there in amazement, before praising her and saying how wonderful that was, and asked her if she could show one of my triplets how to do something like that sometime

 Ulisa pulled out two white shimmery vests. Tossing one to Selena, it turned green in her hands, "Barbic vests...a lighter form of armor but more bulletproof than any human vest

without question I pulled it on then headed to the area, sure enough the body was still there

Ulisa followed, close and her elvish sword already drawn. To Selena, she said, "If you what you even _think_ is a tint on my sword blade, tell me...it glows golden when danger's near

 I nodded and got behind her a bit

Ulisa said, "this is her? How long?"

I nodded only 2 days

Ulisa nodded back and knelt down, examining the ground surrounding, even dropping to her hands and knees and sniffling the ground

Ulisa said, "Human scent..." she took a small piece of powder that was lying on the gummi's body, sniffed it and even licked it with her tongue. "Yes, humans...fresh...this way!

I followed without question

but looked at her to see what was going on

she broke into a sprint quickly, those years of training in full force as she pushed through branches and trees  I quickly picked up my speed and followed her Ulisa suddenly screeched to a stop and let loose a string of words in Barbic, with an acidy in her voice Selena had not previously heard

 Puzzled I looked at her

She just jerked her head forward in answer

 Ulisa look at all those little ones, what are they doing?

 I asked my voice wavering

 She nodded, her eyes practically burning. her voice came out, deeper, and sounding remarkably like Ursa's, her grandmother's. "They're slaves I swallowed hard and asked what I could do to help

Ulisa said, "there's too many...we need more than two

 what? who else we going to get? don't tell me were going to leave those children here any longer

Ulisa looked at Selena with angry eyes, "No...I'm going to get my clan

I nodded in belief

Ulisa started back, her pulse pounding. Without saying a word, she disappeared through the portal and reemerged with all the Barbics except for little Buddi

Ulisa just said, "You're not a fighter, are you?'

no I'm afraid not, sorry I never had training for it

Ulisa just nodded, ducked her head back into the portal and pulled Buddi through. "Keep Buddi and the other children occupied

Now that I can do! I told them

Ulisa just chuckled and headed off with the other Barbics. Buddi ran forward and grabbed Ursa's hand, "mama...I wanna help you

 It'll be alright Buddi, Ursa knows what she's doing, I told him hugging his shoulders a quick squeeze

Buddi just looked up at Ursa who knelt down to his level and spoke to him in Barbic a moment, hugged him and walked off

lets sneak these little ones off these grounds' Buddi I told him motioning him to follow

 Buddi just nodded, followed Selena but kept watching where Ursa had gone  I looked at these tents, and knew that they had a backdoor to them, and looked to see if there would be anyone around, "Buddi we better wait until the battle is full swing before we start

that way the guards are also off post

Buddi just nodded again, kept quiet and then said, "Ursa'll start it-" *at that moment, the sound sof warriors blazed across the fields

I nodded as we waited for the signal, now what we'll do is go for the smallest ones first and work are way up

Buddi looked at Selena, "why not do the opposite, that way we'd have more people to help free the others? Besides the younger ones'll cry and attract attention if we get them too early

your right Buddi thats true, lets do it that way," I smiled "You can tell I haven't done this before can't you"

Buddi just smiled, "Neither have I. But Ursa told me I have a mind for strategy

Buddi just blushed and led them on their way, into different tents with a feather silent step, their presence unnoted

just tell me when Buddi I whispered

the cub nodded at Selena, gesturing her to set free the cubs in the four tents to the left, while he went to the right

I nodded, but where should we have them go?

Buddi said, "they've lived here, tell them what's going on and they should guide you the rest of the way

 Buddi ran off in the distance

I headed to the tents that I would be raiding

Thanks to the distraction provided by the battle, the raids on the tents seemed to go without a hitch

I looked at a worn Ulisa, "now what do we do with all these guys?

Ulisa smiled, "I can take them to my orphanage if they--" she faltered, fell to her knees and started to gasp for air

Ulisa! oh gosh! URSA help! IT'S ULISA!

Ursa ran over and Ulisa just screamed, "Selena, where's Buddi? I'm not hurt...something's happening to Buddi..."

he was raiding the tents off to the right

when I seen him oh shit no!

Ulisa said simply, "go find him!"

 hold on I'll find him!

Ulisa just nodded, gasping for air. Ursa followed right behind Selena

Buddi I called towards the tents, please answer, I whimpered, as I ran trying to find him

Ursa suddenly cried out, "GET OFF HIM, YOU SOB!" and ran forward

 I stood there in shock as Ursa charged in, I couldn't believe what had happened Ursa ran forward, beheading a human who had his hands locked around Buddi's neck Is he alright, Oh my gosh I'm sorry it's all my fault

Ursa cried, "It wasn't your fault. You take chances in war." Ursa pried the human's arms off, and pushed some air into Buddi, saying, "C'mon breathe for Mama, baby”

I watched as she did this

 After a few breaths, Buddi gasped for air, coughed and then breathed on his own

 

 after getting home, I looked at the swarm of children we brought back that way, you sure your going to have enough room in the orphanage for all of them?

Ulisa chuckled, and said, "Why?" she grinned, "you want some?"

 I just got three from that wicked place

I've got enough for right now and a fourth one to work with

Ulisa just smiled, "Well, okay then. And yes, we have enough room." Ulisa smiled at Selena and scooped up a two year old girl to her hip. She was white, with pointed ears, slanted eyes...she was going to be beautiful when she got older, "except for this one

I smiled I see you got yourself another

Ulisa smiled, "She's a gummi-elf hybrid...I couldn't resist." she smiled at Ursa, who came over, cradling Buddi

I take it your wanting to head home with your new little one, and wanting to get those ones settled in as well

Ulisa nodded, "yes. And Ursa wants to get home too I imagine."

I nodded and thanked them all,  If any of you ever want to stop by you can do that

Ursa smiled, "we could hardly do otherwise. Thank you for that offer, we'll take you up on that." she chuckled when Buddi laid on her shoulder and closed his eyes, "But I think _this_ one needs a nap. We'll see you around."

yes see you around, and oh thanks for what you did with MY son again as well he's really changed

Ursa just chuckled, gave her a wink and walked off, leading her clan into the time portal, vanishing

She waved in answer. Ulisa smiled and quickly gathered her children together, introducing them to their new sister, Arwen

Ulisa nodded, "and likewise

 I know I will, See ya

all of Ulisa's children turn around and say in unison. "Thank you Selena

Oh would you have away for me to get a hold of you?

 Ulisa chuckled and tosses Selena a little box, like a walkie talkie, "thought you'd want a communicator some time

not a problem little ones, maybe you could come back and play with mine again soon

yes! Thank you

Ulisa winked and led her group through the portal, vanishing
