I woke early this morning slowly dragging myself to the end of the bed checking in the homemade Incubator. She was still alive amazing! I wasn’t sure if she would pull through the night or not. I opened the thing gently, and touched her soft fluff, the baby was born so early that her fur wasn’t fur yet, it was this fluff, the kind of fluff that a cat has after it’s been blow dried after a bath. She looked so peaceful and happy there. I looked to where I had put an ice chest full of milk so sterile that it wasn’t funny, and a small bowl, I knew this little girl was to small to even suck on anything. Believe it or not, I was using an medicine dropper to give her the milk. I’d give her a little bit, then help coax it down her throat but gently using two hands in a circular motion to get it to go down right, and repeated this every half hour or so, then just as I would a full term baby, pat her back to make sure no air was stuck. This child was so small that the receiving blanket that I had her in went around her three time. I laughed at that, well at least she was warm that way, and she seemed to like it. I also sat there talking to her.

A knock came at my door, I answered telling them just a minute, I wouldn’t let anyone open the door with her box open. I was keeping the room warmer then it should be as well as keeping the germs out the best that I could. After placing her back in the basket, and closing the lid, I checked to make sure that her bed was still on, and at the right tempters. Then headed outside of the room to join the rest of the group.

“Mamma, Kura alright?”  I smiled and picked Elliot up, He couldn’t quite get her name right.

“Yes, Sukura made it through last night, but she has a long long road ahead of her.” I told him thinking back to when Ursa had once said that Barbic’s were tough, and I was believing it to be true as of this moment, I could see the Barbic side of that newborn cub fighting at full speed as hard as she could to join the rest of her brothers, and sister out here.

Tanni, I want you to help Darcy for a little while, I’m going out for a little bit,  Sukura just ate, and should be fine for a little while still. I want to see if I can find out where her mother was coming from, and see if I can get some answers to how and why she died like that.” I turned to the younger ones, and back to Tanjia,

“I don’t want anyone of you near my bedroom while I’m gone, I want the baby to rest as much as she can.” Turning back to Darcy, “I’ll be back before her next feeding, and things, so I won’t be long.” Darcy nodded and started on her book again, I smiled, knowing that everything was in good hands. I took one of the horses so that it would take so long, after about ten minutes of looking, I sighed and headed back, I really didn’t want to be out here and away from that infant at this moment, and decided that I would be able to look some other time, and that it didn’t really even matter, since the little one was here, now anyways and it still wouldn’t be able to bring her mother back. So I headed back home. I knew that Ulisa would have to know about the infant so that I had the claim on Sukura. I then began to think about how I was going to tell her about what happened and the little one’s arrival.
