After feeding Sukura, I headed up the stairs to the children’s room to
check on them. I had to smile at the little pile that use to be three young
cubs, namely Cubbi, Skyla, and Elliot, they were now what looked like one big
not. I walked around to make sure the others were alright as well. The one that
I always thought was funny to watch sleep was Kenya, the way she was now her
thumb was in her mouth, and in that same had several strains of hair in it. And
she was curled up enough that her bottom stuck up into the air,
I chuckled as I pulled the blankets back over her. Seeing
that the rest were alright. I headed down to go ahead and get some extra
sleep. Just as I headed into the bedroom Chace
started crying, this wasn’t normal for him anymore, he normally just called my
name. I headed over to him.
“Chace
Baby, your warm.” I said as I picked him up. He just
kept fussing as I held him. Normally he stopped, so I know he must not feel too
well. I didn’t know what I was going to do. I useally
take the children and lay with them when their sick but I couldn’t not with Sukura in there like that.
“I
Captain Sheet Man!” I
looked over to see Elliot running through the house with a sheet of the bed.
“Chace,
look at Elliot.” The toddler paid no mind to him, just wailed as I tried
rocking him. Elliot started to make siren noises.
“Elliot Ixavior, its way to early for you
to be doing that! There are others sleeping, I want you to stop, please.”
“I
not Elliot, I Captain Sheet Man!” I stood up,
and took the sheet.
“I said to stop, so
unless you want to start the day out with a sore backside, I suggest that you
do as I say.” I told him sternly Elliot made a face the turned and headed into
another room. I sighed as I took the crying Chace and
sat back down and started to rock him again.
As I rocked I
watched as several of my children walked down the stairs, Elliot looked at me,
“Now can I have my
cape back?
“No Elliot, there
are still to many sleeping, the other babies aren’t
even up yet.” The cub made a face,
“Now there’s a look
that seems familiar, if I didn’t know any better I’d say it was the same one
that Cubbi makes when he doesn’t get his way with something.” I turned to see
Plucki standing behind me.
“it
does? I would have never noticed.” I told him, “Of course I’m not around him
like you are so that could be why.” Plucki nodded.
Three more had come
down,
“Now
Mamma?” I sighed and turned
to my son,
“I never said that
you could have it back, and if you ask again, your
going to find yourself back in bed!” I told him sternly, Elliot made a face. But turned to go outside.
“A son, it’s,…” I never got a chance that little cub charged back in as
fast as he could wrapping his arms around me tight shivering.
“I know little one it’s cold out there.” He looked up at me with his big
chestnut eyes and nodded. I looked at Chace who had
finally cried himself to sleep. After putting him in his bed, I picked Elliot
up and wrapped my arms around him before reaching down and grabbing a blanket.
I looked up just in
time to see a blue blur fly passed me and out the door, I turned to see Darcy
walking down the stairs.
“Now what was that
all about?” I asked looking at her sternly.
“I have no idea, she just woke and took off like that.” I sighed and
told her that I would be back, and that I wanted her to get a fire going.
“Shanda!” I called out. “Shanda!”
It had been a good fifteen minutes since she had disappeared. And that I had
been looking for her. There wasn’t any snow on the ground but it was cold
enough that it could.
“SHANDA KIRI! ANSWER
ME RIGHT NOW! YOUNG LADY!” I yelled getting worried. It was way to cold to even
be out here in the first place. And I knew that there was no way that she was
even dressed. I after a few minutes I
heard something. Looking behind a rock, I seen her
sitting there.
“This running off
thing is really getting old, Young Lady!” I told her sternly as I went to pick
her up. She batted my hands away.
“What’s that for?” I
asked her lifting her chin so that I could get a good look at her.
“We can’t stay out
here, your
going to get sick.!” I told her throwing my coat around her, then picking her
up with her fighting me.
“Stop!” I told her sharply. Once we got into the house
I sent her to sit in front of the fire, and told her that we would talk about
this in a little while, but I wanted to let her warm up first.” She nodded knowing
that she was in trouble.
