“Whoa! HELLO guys!” I said as I woke up. With seven sets of eyes staring at me.

“We want to start on the other rooms!” I couldn’t believe it, these kids almost all of them were up before the crack of dawn. I sighed as I got myself up, and them fed so that they wouldn’t be so hungry later. I figured I would have all of them lay down about noon or so and get more then. And it would be early bedtimes for all as well. I was needing it myself.  By about noon we had that hall about done.

“Tell you what, all of you lay down for about an hour and then you can help me do the plaster on the walls again, only this time were going to use the brushes.” They all nodded. That’s when I notice Joy wasn’t with us. She was just coming down the stairs. When they were going up.

“Mamma can I start on my room today? I nodded as I headed out with her. And helped her fill water balloons up like you could imagine and taped them all over the place. I handed  her the darts and watched her go to it. I had to laugh at the neat patterns that had come about when she throw.

“You do some.” She said hand me a couple darts. I started doing the same thing. This is fun! I’m glad you thought of this little one!” She nodded as she throw the next couple and turned so that she could get the next ones. What I didn’t realize was when I had left the room earlier to tend to a couple for the baby’s is she also got the ceiling. She told me to watch out. As she throw one up. I was amazed that she would know how to do something like that.

“Joy, where did you learn to throw like that?”

“A friend.” She answered. “ I learned to throw all kinds of things. Spears, knives, all those things.” I nodded.

“Tell me about your friend.”

“I can’t.” I looked at her,

“Why not?”

“Cause she’s not around no more, People took her and I never seen her again.” Seeing her starting to show an emotion I had never seen her have, I started more I wanted her to show what she could and let me know what was going on. The darts started going faster and harder as she threw them.

“The same ones who took my real parents.” She said as she threw another, again at the top. “Elliot remembers her a little bit.  Skyla thinks that human that took them was her mother at that time only she would say things that were mean, never hurt us any other way and Sky started getting wild.” She said dropping her darts out of her hands. I moved them and pulled her into my arms.

“You know what happened to the real ones?” She nodded.

“I was out doing what the lady wanted, and seen them,….”

“Alright I got the idea,” I told her holding her close and letting her cry out. I couldn’t believe that some humans were so cruel these were children, pretty much still babies! Hurting so. I was wishing for away to stop it all. I know understood Sky a little better, along with the other two. Joy calmed herself.

“Sweetheart. Look at me a minute, its alright you can let me as close as you want. I know I can never replace what you’ve lost. But if anything I want you to just trust me.” She nodded. As she climbed down and started on her darts again. And laughing as much as she could. I joined her until the others got up and fixed their lunches, and got the other two older girls started with painting their rooms, and started to work on the younger girls, and the infants as well. I could let the boys do their room, as well as the younger girls, and get the infants rooms as well. And the older girls could get their beds and things moved to their own rooms.
