"Ursaila, di?"

"Buddi's out playing right now, I told him i would watch you while he went and had some fun for a bit."

"I ant Di." the toddler started whimpering tears starting to show,

"Now stop that, lets find us something to do while he's gone."

"No I ant Di!" "Sorry Buddi' not coming back for a bit>" Chace let out an ear piercing scream that sent Grubbi

"Chace that’s enough" Ursa scolded walking with him. She tried everything, "Grubbi help me he's been doing this for over an hour, I don't want to take Buddi's play from him what should I do?

"Buddi never got this bad did he?

Grubbi chuckled, "no...he was a lot worse." he sighed, "try and get him to play or something...Buddi's been working hard with this cub...he deserves a break

"I've tried he's thrown everything I've given him. You take him for while, Grubbi

Grubbi held his arms up, "sorry...I gotta go get some more herbs or we’ll be low when cold season hits

Who else can handle him for the time being I need to have a break myself"

"Here Gritty." Ursa said dropping the kid in his lap, "Have fun."

gritty said, "hey! why me?"

Your the only one left, I need a break and so did buddi, and Grubbi's busy, And there’s no way I'm leaving him with Ryo

gritty sighed and looked at the cub in his lap, "You're just getting passed around like a sack, aren't ya?" the cub did nothing but cry saying "Di"

Buddi'll be back to play soon

"I ant Di"

Gritty handing him a toy but only got it thrown back at him as a well loud No!

gritty sighed, "you want to make Buddi something?"

Chace looked at him a gain but waddled off

gritty followed, "where you going?"

he waddled back into his own room managing to pull the bag down

getting into it he managed to pull out a pacifier and put it into his mouth

the reached up to Gritty

gritty chuckled and scooped the cub up, "aren't you clever

Chace curled up into Griity's arm

gritti chuckled and just supported the cub

closing his eyes Chace fell asleep

Gritti was baffled but he didn't reject it.

As soon as Gritty tried to put him down, but Chace started to cry

again

gritti scooped the cub back up again, swiftly'

Chace curled back into him and started to fall asleep but said ock

Gritti blinked, 'baffled, "'Ock?" he didn't know baby talk. Ursa had always had to translate Buddi's for him

Chace started top whimper, Ock! Chace said again a little louder

gritti was desperate and glancing about, decided to try the rocking chair. Ursa and buddi did that with this kid a lot

Chace stopped and settled again

gritti chuckled, "so THAT'S what you meant

"So thats where you to ran off to" Ursa said walking into the room

"Its a good look for you you

gritti looked up at her with a "don't-say-a-word" look

"Oh i'm not

he jsut glared at her and asked, "how do you understand this talk anyway? it's like he's speaking Greek

"You just guess at times, why don't you lay him in his is crib caus ehe screams if I put him down

so you and Buddi have the same effect on him?

he looked up, "what/"

"He only stops crying with Buddi and i see with you," Say where did you get that thing he's got in his mouth?

I didn't...ghe went into his bag and got it himself

He couldn't have done that he's only a year old

well..he did

Ursa just smiled and walked off saying Buddi would be backing a couple hours

gritti calls, "good

"Why don't you like this?"

After bit Buddi walked in "I'm back,"

buddi looked around and finally found gritti still in the same position, "gritti...what are you doing?"

"He wouldn't sleep without me holding him

buddi just smiled, "I coulda told you that.

well i had to figure that out the hard way

buddi just smiled, "I take it he screamed like a banshee?"

worse

buddi winces, "I wish he could say my full name

It'll come in times

buddi glares at gritti, "Please tell me I didn't call YOU guys something that bad

"yes you did Buddi it was always Mamma Sa" Ursa said walking in

buddi turns blood red, "don't tell m ethat

Chace choose then to wake and start to wail again

buddi took the cub outta gritti's arms

and the cub quit. and started babbling a mile a minute to Buddi

buddi just laughed, his eyes clearly stating he udnerstood every word Chace was saying

"well what did he say?

buddi jsut grinned at Gritti, "Learn to talk his language, Gritty"

Gritty rolled his eyes, well then what did he just tell you

budid jsut laughed and ran out,

Seeing buddi was in the room, Chace started to climb on the bookshelf or trying, he fell onto him backside, and was fine until Buddi said something then burst into tears

buddi blinked, completely baffled

"Just pick him up Buddi"

budid whirled around

Ursa walked in, "Just pick him up, thats what he's wanting you to do, but if I were you i would tell him no to climbing on the bookshelfs

buddi just nodded and did as she recommended and then blushedm "How do you know all this, Mama?"

you don't think when you fell you did that? you never tried to climb the bookshelves though

buddi blushes a deeper red

the cub curled into Buddi feeling safe, then looked at him saying ottle

buddi caught on quickly, understanding and slipped a fresh bottle into the cub's mouth

"Buddi I have to say your oretty good at all this baby stuff, I'm proud of you."buddi turned to her, shocked, "really?"

"Yes you've figured out everything without me having to say athing, Plus you've never had to be told, so you know i can take some of the responsiblity on your hands

buddi blinked at her again,still stunned by all this and

"Why are you so shocked?

he shrugs, "i dunno...you don't praise me a lot

"I don't?

no...you don't...not a lot

"I'm sorry Buddi, I think I'll have to start, she looked at the sun a second, "It's time for training why not take him outside with us as well he can watch

budid didn't reject but nodded although he still wasn't looking forward to it, he didn't complain

a little bit into it, Ursa had to cover her mouth to keep from laughing

buddi turned, "what?"

"Look at Chace." Chace was mimicking Buddi's every move

"I Di!"

buddi turned blood red, "I didn't do that to you, did I?"

"No, not like that!"

good..." buddi looked at Chace, completely baffled and ina  way, flattered

He watch Chace run up to the area that Buddi was and picked up an arrow and started to try to throw the arrow as if it was a spear

buddi eeped at this now and looked at Ursa with a "Now what" expression

well do you want him doing that?

no...

"Well do something that might get him to stop

buuddi glares at her, "I'm not spanking him...forget that

Well I am Buddi he can hurt himself she said starting over towards the toddler

buddi grabbed Ursa's arm, "No!"

"Buddi he could get hurt."

so take it away but don't hit him

alright you do it then tell him no, and tell him he's going to a corner then

buddi glared a ther, "fine

"Your going to have to spank him at some point

though

No, I won't

Ursa just sighed and told him to do with Chace what he was going to do

buddi wasted no time in doing it, snatching the arrow away, telling him firmly no and carrying him inside

a little bit later that night buddi was sitting on his bed working with something when Chace walked in

buddi turned a page in the book, reading over some notes Ursa told him to look over

the child started to crawl up the side of the nightstand and leaning over the side

"Pretty.' he said looking at the flame in the oil lamp just as soon as he did the lamp fell over

into Buddi's lap

Buddi was absorbed in his reading and didn't notice until the fire spread. He screamed as loud as he ever had in both panic and pain

"What's going on in,... Holy,.... GRUBBI GET IN HERE BUDDI!"

buddi screamed, in a panic, batting at the fire

Ursa yelled smothering the firer

buddi immediately burst into tears, in pain and a mild state of shock'

"GRUBBI GET YOUR ASS IN HERE AND HELP HIM!

grubbi tore intot he room, "Ursa what's-BUDDI! Ursa what the hell happened>?

"I have know idea, but help him, fix his legs! do something he's hurting , Grubbi why are you just standing ther do something!"

grubib said sternly, "YOU calm down." he rushed to buddi, pulling the cub out into the brighter light. all the cub's lower legs were red and black as was up to his hips. he was screaming "Fycan!" with a passionm

"I'm here, can you tell me what happened?"

Buddi just pointed, where Chace was sitting on the ground, by the bed with a stunned and frightened look

"how did he do this?

climbing the nightstand..." Grubbi looked at Ursa, "I'll be right back."

Ursa walked over and pulled Chace up and pulled him to both the nightstand and to Buddi, "Look at what you did Chace Cullen." She said as she gave his backside a couple of smacks,, "NO! NO NO" She said standing him in a corner. then headed back over to buddi. "You alright?"

buddi cried, without shame..."I hurt...

"i know baby, I know Grubbi will be back in a minute

with something to fix it

grubib came back in, a kit in hand and started cutting the cub's clothing off, to see the burns. Underneath the clothing, the fur had been scorched off and the skin turned black

Ursa's mouth dropped compleatly

buddi screamed at the mere touch of grubbi's fingers, despite the fact he was being as gentle as possible

Ursa held onto buddi tightly to hold him still and to sooth at the same time

grubbi looked over the burns, seriously and then winced himself, turnign his head away for a moment

"Grubbi do something make him stop hurting!"

I'm trying, Ursa. His worst burns are...well, here." He gestured to the area, not about to say it

oh my gosh! Grubbi can't you knock him out to help him ease the pain a bit

he shook his head, "not yet. In a few minutes, yes. I need to look ver andmark all the burns before I admit him to sick bay.

Well hurry! Damit!

*figured she'd be speaking this way*

Grubbi looked at her, "Ursa...your panic isn't helping buddi

"Well look at him! He's hurt serously

I know." grubbi took out a pad and wrote down things quickly, "third degree on the upper thighs and upward. the rest are serious second degree. Pick him up and bring him down to sick bay. I'm gonna go get things ready." Buddi looked to ursa as grubbi ran off, "Fyca...I hurt...I hurt! Make it stop, Fyca!

Ursa nodded and started soothing Buddi then telling Chace to stay there

budid just howled at the top of his lung at the slightest touch,

Grubbi walked over with an herb his hand after breaking it waved it under the cub' nose to make him sleep to make it easyer on Buddi

buddi's eyes slowly drooped and he fell into a sleep as grubbi gestured ursa to take the cub and set him on a table in sick bay...a table that to Ursa looked preped for surgery

It's that bad Grubbi?

I have to do skin grafts

oh great, I'm going ot go tell Gritty to keep an eye on the toddler I'll be right back

Grubbi nodded, and said, "close the door, when you leave...I'm starting right away"

she nodded, "How soon can I get back in here

you can come back in here but I don't want anyone else in

Alright Ursa soon came back and sat at buddi's head talking and cooing to him like he was a small infant againgrubbi sighed as he cut away strips of skin which he just laid on the small tray. hehad to cut a great deal off and took grafts from the cub's belly and buttocks to cover his thighs. after about 4 hrs, he wrapped the wounds and told ursa the cub would be waking up soon

she nodded

don't even bother getting me for dinner tonight

grubbi left to sterile the tools and ursa was snapped to reality by a shrill scream

"What was that?"

buddi came to again with the stinging messages of pain from his lower half and opened his mouth and howled

"I know Baby, I know its all over," ursa turned "Grubbi give him something for that pain

grubbi came over and fed the cub some herbs fro the pain but told ursa they would take an hour to kick in. he couldn't give an injection because of the injuries

what am i supose to do for  an hour?

be a mother.

Ursa sat there talking and trying to sooth Buddi the best she could until the pain medicine kicked in

buddi jsut looked at her and switched to Babric, something he rarely did: "<Mommy, I hurt...I hurt so much. Make it stop. I want it to stop!>"

"the herb will kickin shortly," an just as she said that they started to take effect

buddi just whimpered and laid down, unable to find a comfortable position but beign forced into sleep quickly

Ursa stayed beside him through that time, she noticed a little yellow hear sticking out from the door, "i orry, Di" Chace said the best he could.

buddi was fast asleep and made no answer but his grip on ursa's hand tightened a bit

Chace looked at Ursa hoping for a reply

while this went on, grubbi came over to the sleeping cub and gently unwrapped his wounds, wiping them down with an herbal cream before putting fresh bandages on them*

"Chace you don't climb do you see why now?" Chace nodded, Showing he was smarter than a normal cub his age not as advanced as Buddi was but close enough.

"I urt," he said looking at Buddi, then looked at Grubbi

watching

Grubib nodded, "He'll be all right but he's gonna hurt a lot for a few months." to ursa, grubbi said, "I want him in sikc bay for at least two weeks to make sure no infections spring up

she nodded, Chace looked at Grubbi I elp?"

Grubbi shook his head, "no, you need to go back to your room. Buddi needs to be with his Mama for now

Chace looked at him and started to cry I ay if Di (I stay with Buddi)

No, Chace. You don't. You can stay in your room or we can send you home

Grubbi looked at Chace sternly, "You can either stay in your room or we can send you to your Aunt Ulisa's

"Arry me ack?"

Grubib sighed, "gritti can." he pointed to the black gummi in the doorway. "I have to stay with Buddi

Chace ran to Gritty and openes his arms saying up

Gritti scooped the cub up and just looked at ursa, with a worried and questioning look

*yeah I made him smart*

"he'll be alright, sore for awhile, and stays here for a bit, but Chace is to go back to his room

Gritti merely nodded and walked out. Grubbi looked at Ursa, "I'm gonna go get some dinner for you two. Buddi needs to eat when he wakes up

I'm not hungry Grubbi so don't worry about me

well, you'll have better luck getting buddi to eat if you eat too

fine a little toast but thats it

grubib just nodded and walked out, leaving mother and son alone

not to long after he woke up, "How you feeling Baby?"

buddi whimpered, "I hurt...I'm hungry...and I gotta go to the bathroom"

"Uh Grubbi come here we have a problem

grubbi came in, setting the tray down, "what?"

'how's he supose to well you know, he's burned there remember

grubbi nodded, "We can do it two ways, you can just support him or i can give him something where he doesn't have to move....mothr's choice this time, not patient's

give him the something he doesn't have to move

grubbi nodded and pulled Ursa aside, "I can either attach something to him(like that actual medical thing you told me about) or I can..." he grinned sheepishly, searching for the word, "well, would you feel comfortable changing diapers again?"

Attach something to him I've already got another set of diapers to change while Chace is here

Grubbi nodded, "If yer sure...I'll have to put him through surgery again

she nodded just do it

Grubbi merely nodded, "It'll be temporary. let me ready my tools...you tell him what's going on."

okay" Ursa walked over to Buddi and told him what was going to happen

budid blinked, "mama...not that! Don't put me through that

"its either that or diapers"

buddi pouts, "I don't want either...

"you don't have a choice Grubbi's getting everything together

but everything already hurts down there!

I know but you need to have this done

buddi just starts crying, out of fear of pain more than embarrassment

It's not going to hurt you Buddi

"Grubbi lets get this done!"

grubbi comes over, herbs in hand and moves the cub over to the table again. buddi is ahking, visibly and looks at ursa

Eat it

buddi obeys but grabs ursa's hand

it's going to be alright

budid just nods and falls intoa  sleep and grubbi gets the process done quickly

Ursa sitting beside Buddi when he wakes this time

budid groans at the groggy feeling of the herbs wearing off

"how do you feel now

he groans, "I still hurt...:

i know but here eat this

what is it?" *he is still kinda out of it*

"Your dinner

not hungry

"you need to eat

but i still feel really weird...I don't have an appetite

try to eat anyways buddi sighs but does so if only to please her and then saysm "can you hold me mama?" she looked to Grubbi to see if she could

he says, "be gentle and careful

she nodded and lifted him into his lap, and started to feed him as if he was younger again

buddi jus tlaid agaisnt her chest and ate this way, not very enthusiastically but he ate

thats better, as he ate, Chace poked back in looking at Buddi

buddi looked at Ursa and said, "Mama...I'lm like naked from the waist down

Thats alright, "Di better?

buddi turns red when he sees chace and buries his face

Chace walked over to Buddi and Ursa

I orry Di"

buddi just noded but didn;t say anything

Chace then sat down on the floor beside the bed, and Ursa's chair watching

buddi didn't acknowledge the cub very much, being in pain, he turned clingy so all his attention was on Ursa later when Ursa had gone to check on Buddi when he was a sleep, she noticed that Chace had cuddled up beside him and had also to fall a sleep
