“Dar, baby are you alright?” I asked as I walked into the room
that she was using for the night. When I walked in, she was shaking and tears
were rolling down her face. They fell
from her face to her quilt, Sweat joined them as well.
“I’m alright Mamma,”
She said laying back down.
“No,
your not. You never do
that. What’s going on?”
“I can’t tell you.
It’s bad.” Picking the cub up into my
lap I spoke again.
“What’s so bad?” I
asked her, Smoothing out her red hair, I pleaded with her,
“Tell Mamma so she
can help you.” Darlita looked at me a minute then turned her head again Turning
her head back to me, I looked into her eyes.
“Darlita its alright to tell me what’s on your mind.” She stared at
me for a moment like I had two heads.
“Really?”
“Dar, I have never
ever had a time were you kids couldn’t come to me with anything that you had on
your mind. Please Baby tell Mamma what’s going on.” Darcy gathered everything
she had and spoke.
“Mamma, first tell
me why you took us cubs in in the first place.”
“Alright I can do
that its very easy. I took you kids in cause I wanted
others that I could love and have as my own. I wanted to give you what you
wanted in the first place, a fair chance at life, a chance to be a child, and
live freely.” I told her running my fingers though her hair.
“Father and Mother
were mean” She started, “They put these spells on me so I really couldn’t
control what I was doing. The spells were never really lifted, and I’m not sure
how you can get rid of them. They happen in spurts, the first happens really
slowly then they come in bunches. Until it over takes you
totally.” Darlita stopped the tears were again starting to fall.
“Can you tell me
more Angel?” Darcy nodded. ”Sometimes father would put this spell on me to make
me do the same things I did to Kenya. I ended up doing to all the younger ones
before they died from the experiments they did. They were going to a big one on
Bliss. But it would have killed her before she even had a chance to even really
do anything they had already killed about 8 others before me, and 6 after. They
got some of the cubs from the orphanages too, not Ulisa’s but other Gummi
ones.” She said. As Darlita spoke chills ran down my spine. I couldn’t believe
someone would do such things to children. “Some of there weren’t even two or
three days old, Mamma. I had to do something.”
“I know and your not to blame or any of it.” I told her taking her in my
arms and crying myself a bit.
“Mamma Don’t let me turn into them.”
“I won’t do that I
promise Darcy.” I told her trying to find what to say to her. Never have I heard of something so horrible
in my life, How did they get away with it? I wondered
then realized they didn’t, Darcy did something about it.
“Mamma, can you
start treating me like you do the others? “
“I do Darcy, I try
to anyways.”
“No you don’t you
never punished me like you do the others, not until this thing I had to go
through started. Normally you just scold me. When you spank
the others.”
Dar, I didn’t cause
your older. But if that’s what you want I can handle that.”
“Yes that’s what I
want.” I nodded
“Alright I’ll start
treating you like that.”
“Mamma, can you do
that now for all the trouble that I caused you and Ulisa, for what I did to Tanni’s pups, and to Chace?” I stared at he r in
shock.
“Do you know what your asking me to do?”
“Yes Mamma I do.”
Taking the girls hands into mine,
“Darlita, I want you
to understand that you have been forgiven, and that you don’t have to do that.”
“Mamma it would make
me feel better to know that I was punished for it.”
Sighing I looked at her still kind of in shock
“I know what I did
and I know that it caused pain Mamma, pain that can never be taken away. So yes
I want it, I’m owning up to what I did.”
“Darcy let me ask
you something first.”
“Alright Mamma”
“Did you have any
control over any of the things you did?”
“Not totally, but I
had some. Enough some that I could have not been reading those spell books, and
enough I knew I was taking those drugs. But not enough to
know what I was doing to those around me. Please Mamma, just do it,”
Darcy begged.
“Alright I’ll do it
but I want you to know that I’m proud of you for owning up to the problem. And
I want you to understand if you have a problem your to
come to me. Is that understood?”
“Yes Mamma”
Alright, lets go some where so we don’t wake anyone here.” Darcy
nodded and followed me into a set of woods.
"Mamma just one
more thing,"
"What's
that?"
"Could you see to it that if I go under that that Ulisa does that spell on
me again?"
"Sure but you'd
be better to ask her yourself." I told her heading outside
