“Grubbi,” I said
looking at the cub in front of me sleep. The elder Barbic looked to me.
“He hasn’t had the
vaccinations that he’s supposed to have, but I didn’t know that he was supposed
to have any Ulisa just told me a couple days ago” He nodded to me as I headed
out to check on my other son. As I headed that direction I could hear Buddi’s pitiful “URSA!!!!!!!!”
going through the halls. I spotted the worn leader walking in that direction. I
had to laugh silently so rough on the outside, but sweet on the inside. I
headed over and took a look at my sleeping son and picked him up. As I sat I
heard someone behind.
“Ursa, I thought you
were with Buddi,”
“I was, but I needed
a break so let him have a little sedative for a bit, it’ll keep him out for a
time.” I nodded,
“Timmy’s out as
well.” I told her handing the one in my arms a bit of warmed milk.
“How many you got
now?”
“18,
Ursa why?” She laughed
“What at least you
only had two cubs sick at the same time, I had 7 at once, my 3 year old, my
triplets and my 8 month old twins” Ursa’s eyes went wide, and said
“At least most the
time I only have Buddi I guess, although I do miss is baby years.”
“I bet, its hard to see them grow isn’t it?” Ursa nodded as she
looked at the cub,
“You wanna hold
him?” Ursa reached out her arms and took hold of the newborn and looked into
his eyes, which
were another shade of blue, only darker.
“How’d you get this
one?”
“Found him on the
doorstep latterly almost falling on him.” Ursa laughed a bit,
“I know in a day or
so I’ll have to head back so that I can relieve Ulisa she’s watching the rest
of my herd.
“If you need to you
can go ahead and go. I think Timmy’s is about over with.”
“You sure it is,
will he be alright?”
“I’m sure of it, now
go on.” Ursa said as she handed the newborn back,
“I’ll send for you
if I need your help.” I nodded as I headed back home.
“Ulisa, I’m back!” I
called out laying the baby in his cradle in the living room.
Ulisa smiled,
"how did it go? How are they?"
Well Buddi's miserable as can get, he's got hit a second time with the weakness
strain and Timmy's got the same, but they said that he should be fine in the
next couple days and that I could come on back to the others here, and that
they would come and get me if they need me again
Ulisa nodded,
"Timmy doesn't take to well to being bedridden, eh?"
Not at the moment
anyways, he keeps going on about killing someone and needing to train so he can
Ulisa blinked,
"Whoa...any clue as to whom?"
not yet but the anger and fear that were in his
eyes were something I had never seen in him
Ulisa nodded,
"Hmmm....I guess time'll hafta do the rest” they
had to actually tie him to the bed to keep him from training at the moment
I don't doubt that
but the weakness strand will eventually knock him out...it's called that for a
reason you know," she stated, standing
I know….oh, how'd
everything around here go?"
Ulisa chuckled,
"Pretty good. You have some cubs that missed you but no real problems
I don't doubt that,
it's the first time I've really been away from them
Ulisa nodded simply,
saying, "Do you need me to stay for anything? Because I think Neari is
getting a cough so I should head back
We should be fine,
thanks for everything
Not a problem, "she replied, heading
towards the door. "I hope Timmy
gets better soon and give me a call if you need me again

Ulisa gave a nod,
along with a smile before heading out the door
