"Look at you, Bliss!" I beamed; I had just looked over in time to see that she had managed to pull herself up into a standing position. It was true that she had just turned six months the other day, but this was amazing. She stared at me smiling, the pacifier in her mouth. She was also teething again. She now has at least five. And is learning how to use them. She's smart, that's for sure. I have never seen a child jump into crawling or standing at her age. They usually take there time and don't do that until they are at least eight or nine. But this one it’s a different story.

"Good Girl!" I said as I picked her up. She whined to get down. That was the only thing I didn't like about it. Now that she had figured out that she could move on her own she doesn't like to be held too well. I quickly put her down and started on something. She was mostly content to stand where she was.  I went about packing mine and the girls things that we'd be taking with us. We would be leaving tomorrow. Early that morning is when we'd be taking off.

I set about getting the wagon seat and baby wraps ready for the long hall. I wondered what was going to happen when I got there. With these four anything could happen. As I pondered these things I double checked the carts, to make sure everything was going to be in good and tight, that would be stuff that would come out of my baby's mouths, not that they go hungry or anything there’s always more than enough to go around. The freezers and shelves proved it.

I thought of inviting Ulisa and her group out here for a visit sometime. I decided it would be good to find out how my children got along with hers first. I went ahead and started to prepare the sandwiches that were to be eaten on our trip. We also had other things that would be good for the trip. I also had the children bring in jugs of water from the spring for the road. It was going to be a great time for all of us. I was sure of that.

"Mamma, is this enough?" I had to smile; Skyla had a jug in her little hands and was trying to carry it with all her might. Darlita, was trying to keep up with her, Shanda was still inside, in bed. I wanted to make sure that she was well before the trip began.

I walked over and took the water from the little girl.

"We've got to get ourselves something to eat, animals feed, and we have to make sure that the last of the garden has been gone through." I told them. "Then its baths and bed."

"We have to go to bed early?"

"Yes, Skyla, since we have to get up early and start off we have to all go to bed early. So we'll have an early story, as well." She wrinkled her nose.

"I don't like it." She said her nose still wrinkled up. I had to laugh she always looked so funny when she did that. All of us did.

"Let’s get everything done." I told them "We have no time to be wasted." Darlita nodded and took off for the garden. Skyla took off for the horses; she wanted to make sure her little Cookies had everything she needed before we all left. I put Bliss in her play box and started working where ever I could, doing the little extra cleaning inside the house, getting dinner started, After we ate, I sent the girls out for their baths, Darlita, was to help them, we could use the indoor bath but I don't like to do that until it starts getting cold out.

I gave Bliss hers in the sink. She still doesn't like those to this day. Boy, she cries and carries on. She won't even bother with the toys that I put in there for her. She just cries.

I managed to get stories read, and my own bath and children into beds. And myself as well.
