“Bad!” Skyla yelled
as loud as she could from her bed, “I bad!”
“What?” Gritti asked
trying to talk to the child Joy had long since gone home,
“I
bad! I
bad!” Gritti picked the child up and asked her why she thought she was
bad,
“I get this,” she
said pointing to the back of her neck.
“No Butterfly, you
weren’t bad, Grubbi was fixing it so it didn’t bother you.” He told her just as
I was coming in the door.
“Hi
Sunshine how you feeling?”
“Mamma!”: She shouted reaching out to me. Gritti told me what she
had just said, I took her into my arms and sat down,
“Skyla, what makes
you think that you were bad?”
“I go out, he cut me to hurt me with thing, and burns.” Gritti
just stared at me.
“What did she say?”
“She said that when
she went out of the room she was in, he out that metal thing in her so that
when she did it would make contact with some other device and burn her, or make
it seem like it.”
“You got that from
all that?”
“Sure did” I told
him turning her so that I could get her to look at me a little better.
“Skyla you are not
bad, in fact your good
so god I don’t know why anyone would do that,”
“BAD!” Buddi walked
up to the girl and took her hands into his.
“Sky if you were
bad, we’d still love you anyways, I thanked him and told her he was right,
“Your
more than good and we just wanted to make you feel better that’s all.” She buried
her head into my chest and started to cry. Holding her I got up and started
walking with her lightly singing a soft tune that I use with all the children
when they’re either scared or hurt.
“No go Mamma,”
“I won’t little one,
I asked Darcy to stay with the others so that I could be with you.” I told her as she put her thumb into her mouth. She whimpered
for a bit longer. Batting Buddi’s hand away from her.
“I don’t think she
wants you to touch her.”
“What gives that
away?” Ursa just glares at Buddi. He backed up and sat back down.
“Sorry;” he said.
“That’s better.”
