“No hate me no more!” Buddi woke with the little girl screaming into his ear. After the shock wore off, he turned to her and tried to pick her up but the thrashing of the child’s hands and feet make it so he can’t so he started to talk to her. As he did that, he noted that the stitches were bleeding. Quickly Buddi called for Grubbi and Ursa, seeing this Grubbi took control and looked at the stream of blood.

Tyigen!” Grubbi cursed “She’s ripped her stitches out, all of them.”

“How did she do that?”

“I don’t know little Buddi, but she did and I have to get it closed back or she could bleed to death.” Buddi went pale hearing this, he felt strong but gentle hands lift him into the air. Buddi turned to see Ursa standing there.

“I didn’t do anything, I don’t know how or why she did it,…

“Hush Buddi you did nothing, it was a nightmare that did it.”

“What do I do, Mamma,…” Ursa looked at him, hearing this name for her.

“Why did he do that to her?”

“I don’t know Buddi, I really don’t know.”

but why don’t you know, I mean you know everything.” Ursa held him to her and looked at him in his eyes,

“There are some things not even I can answer Buddi, Not even Grubbi can answer that one.”

“I wish I could help her.”

“You already have, Buddi you’ve been watching her all day and you stayed with her through out the night, and you know I’m real proud of you calling me ad Grubbi was the best thing you could do”

“But I still want to help.”

“The best thing I think that would help is just being there.” Climbing back down out of Ursa’s arms, he walked over to Grubbi and took the small girl’s hand while the stitches were being placed back in, as well as a bandage this time. Skyla opened her eyes at that moment.  She was shaking and crying

“I want Joyjoy, I want my Joy!”

“She wants what?”

Joyjoy is what she calls her sister, I heard her use it several times over at her house.”

“I’ll go get her for her.” Ursa nodded and told him to be careful,

“I will,” Buddi said taking of like there was no tomorrow to get the little girl’s sister.

Later when things had settled down, Ursa called to Buddi knowing that he would still be upset, she told him to go get ready for bed and climb into hers. She would be there shortly. Once in the bed, Ursa gathered her cub into her arms and started to hum the tune that she use to use when Buddi was Skyla’s age. Buddi looked up seeing something that took him by surprise,

“Ursa your crying.”

“No I’m not. I’m just thinking about how lucky I am that I have you and grateful that I didn’t turn you down. I don’t want to know what kind of things that could have happened. What I’m trying to say Buddi is I love you.” Had he not been already lying, he would have passed out for sure on that.
