“Hi Elliot, how you feeling?” I asked once I opened my eyes
feeling the earthquake that was in my bed.
“I
better now! I am!”
“As
soon as I gave him the okay he flew out of here like you wouldn’t believe.” I
laughed ruffling the boy’s hair.
“Elliot!
You rascal! I don’t think you should be running around like that.” He grinned
at me as I sat up.
“I
know, but I wanted YOU Mamma!” I laughed again thanking Grubbi as well.
“Sweetheart,
let’s go get some breakfast, while the girls sleep.” I told him starting to
carry him into the main room.
“Mamma! Sukura’s not in her bed!” I
looked into the made up crib, for the first time that morning, my heart about leapt
from my chest still carrying Elliot and headed out to look for her. I found her
and Ursa sitting together in a chair.
“I
didn’t mean to frighten you, I picked her up before she even woke, I wanted to hold her.” I read something in Ursa’s face one
that not to many would seeing, I put my son down and told him to go see if he
could help Grubbi, obediently he took off.
“You
miss times like these don’t you?” She never answered, but she didn’t have to. I
understood.
”I’m
not mad if that’s what you think, and I know how fast children grow.
“She’s
about the same size just a little smaller than Buddi was when I became his
mother.” She said as she let the tiny girl play with her strong hands.
“Ursa,
I have three baby Barbics that you're always welcome to come and hold, matter
of fact how’s this you can even bring whomever you want here once in awhile.” I
told her “Matter of fact, you can let what ever child I have come and visit as
often as you want, and once this ones a little bigger, I wouldn’t mind letting
her come here once in awhile to learn more about being a Barbic. What better
teacher than you, I mean my seven year old who thinks the world of you,” Ursa
nodded as she agreed to it.
“I’d
like that, Buddi may not, but I know I would.” I nodded as she shifted the
infant in her arms then offered her bottle to her. As the baby ate greedily
Ursa used apart of her hand to stroke the soft cherry fur on the cub.
“Strange
that she has that red fur,”
“Her
mother was a Glen while her father I believe was Barbic.” She nodded.
“She
eats like a Barbic.” Ursa looked at her closer. “And she’s build like one.” I
nodded,
“I
thought the Barbic was more dominant than the Glen I guess well find out as
soon as she starts to growing more, I seen in her even
the day she was born. Ursa had been there the a few days after I had gotten the
small baby.
“She
made it through all odds. Maybe that’s why she’s so red,
to handle all the fire she has flowing through her body.” Ursa nodded as I said
that.
“Well
have to see won’t we.” I looked up from where I was sitting to see Buddi
standing there, his mouth dropped, he stood there a little longer then ran.
“Hit
harder Buddi, that kind of moves NOT going to do any good.” Ursa called out as
she made her move with her own weapon. Buddi tried to counter attack again, but
got knocked off the beam they were on.
“Buddi Barbic! I told you an hour ago to focus!” I watched as
Buddi glared at Ursa, and throw his spear down on the floor and started to walk
off.
“Buddi,
you better get back here!” She called out after him. I just stood there
watching as she went after the cub.
