Last night had been
interesting, both Grubbi, and Ursa had gone home, and Buddi would be staying
with us for a couple nights. I could tell he was nervous about being away from
home like that, and I could tell that Ursa leaving Buddi behind was for her as
well. Although the only time he had
trouble was when it came to going to bed that night being use to Ursa tucking
him in at night.
Now they were running through out the house
playing games like you wouldn’t believe. Every so often it would grow quite,
and I would wonder, but as soon as that started, the noise would as well. I sat
back and just listened as I was doing that, Kenni and Skyla was opening the
door for Lightning and Forest. They had been coming to play a lot lately. I told
the girls what was going on and knew this would serve to be interesting.
I had almost fallen
asleep rocking Sukura, when I heard a door slam shut, it jolted the both of us awake. Laying her in the
cradle by the chair, I went to see what was going on.
“Darcy! Please!”
“What’s wrong Joy?”
“Darcy told me last
night that she would read to me and I’ve asked her three different times, once
after breakfast, and at noon, and now. I wasn’t liking
the way Darcy was being lately. But I looked at Joy, and told her we’d try
again at bed time, and if she didn’t by then, I’d talk to her. As I headed back
to the living room where the baby was I stopped in Elliot’s room to check on
him.
“What are you doing
out of that bed, Young Man?”
“I want to play” He
said looking at me as if he wanted to cry or something. I picked him up and
took him back over to the bed.
“I know, but you
need to rest Sweetheart,” He sighed as I pulled the covers back over him. I sat
beside him, and he rolled to his side, facing the wall. I used that as an
opportunity to rub his back to get him to settle down. As
soon as he had fallen asleep again. I headed out to the living room to
see about getting more work done.
Not to minutes after
I set down, the door flew open and Skyla came in screaming about a fire.
“Where Sky,” She
kept screaming and crying and I couldn’t understand her.
“Slow down Skyla!” I
told her as she kept it up.
“Just take me to
what's going on.” she nodded as she took me down to the part of the woods that
Timmy, Buddi, Lightning, and Skyla had gone of to, Forest had been with Kenya
inside still. In front of them was a fire,
“What happened?” I
asked as I ran to the stream taking off my coat, and wetting it, and telling
Sky to get buckets so that we could get this thing up out.
“We were using our
spears, and even though I had said that Lightning couldn’t use her own spears,
she had to use one of these one, she did anyways.” I nodded. Although
I glared at the young girl.
Once that fire had
cleared, I turned to the children, that’s when I noticed that Buddi had gone
completely white, and was saying some stuff in Barbic like crazy,
“Timmy, what’s he
saying?”
“He’s calling for
Ursa. And asking for Gum to help him.”
“Buddi, I called
trying to get his attention as I tried to stay calm, and picked him up to carry
him back to the house to get him warm again, he was cold. The whole way he kept
repeating the same thing over and over. It didn’t seem that he could understand
me. So Timmy had to keep translating what ever I would say. Walking into the room, I called Cyanne to me,
“Cy
I need you to run back to Ursalia and get Ursa, tell her that Buddi needs her,
and tell her that its an emergency.” The little girl nodded and took off
running but not before walking up to Buddi saying something and touching him.
“She told Buddi,
that she’ll be back with his Mamma, and to hold on.”
As soon as Ursa came
in, I could see the look of anger in her eyes, as she headed over to her cub,
and put him into her arms.
“I knew this was a
bad idea, and you let him play with a human!”
“This Lightning, yes
she’s the reason Buddi’s like this but she’s not really human, she’s actually immortal”
I told her only I knew that Ursa hadn’t want to hear it, not right now.
“I’ll explain it
later. They were playing with spears, and Lightning has her own type, and it
burn it the target to the ground. He’s
not the only one that was scared, although he got the worst of it, Sky was
pretty upset herself. Seeing the color come back to Buddi’s face, Ursa turned
to the little girl, and growled,
“You stay away from
my cub.”
“Lightning Tempest,
What did you do this time?” Lightning winced at that voice, and tried to hide
behind Ursa, even though she knew that she too was mad at her. There was no way
that she wanted to face her mother at this moment.
“It was an accident,
Mom.” She said in her own defense. As she headed over to the
woman. Stormy started apologize for her daughter’s actions, and said
that Lightning would be paying for it. Understanding what she meant just as
well as Lightning. Ursa nodded. And gathered her cub into her arms and started
to head out the door.
“Grubbi will be by
to check on Elliot later, maybe some other time well let the cubs have their time
together.” I nodded and tried to tell her how sorry I was that this had
happened. She never even looked back, and headed out the door. I looked at my
son,
“Are you alright?”
He nodded. But climbed onto my lap, that surprised me
he never did that, but I guess after something like that it might scare one
enough.
