“Elliot, get into this room and get this mess that you made cleaned up please!” I staring at a  pile of toys that were sitting on the kitchen floor forgotten until I tripped over them. The little yellow cub flew into the room to grab his belongings

“Elliot!” He looked at me as if nothing was wrong, “You can’t be running around like that”

“Like what Mamma?”

“Before you take that stuff back to your room, I want you to go and get some clothes on, Your not suppose to be running around with nothing on.”

“Oh, okay!” He said then ran off about fifteen minutes later he came back in, this time with a sheet over his head. I just shook my head and sighed, I wasn’t even about to ask. When he was like this, questions were better left unasked.  He ran out never tripping once. I could hear the thumping and banging coming from over head, not sure if I should head up, or if I should stay there I listened even more to see if it sounded like something that wasn’t supposed to be happening or not. It didn’t seem that way so I just sat down. To do the one thing I wanted , and that was to relax for a few minutes.

That’s when that cub flew past again. I watched to see what he was doing; he opened the front door and ran out. Then stepped back in, then walked back out.

I can’t believe the energy this cub has, and its all natural he’s never even touch a pinch of sugar. He’s been like this since four this morning.

“Elliot that’s enough, go play quietly for a little bit.” He looked at me as the door gave a bigger slam that time. Hearing a couple of the babies I headed up to get them.

Sitting up there with them, Tanni came up,

“Ah,… Mamma, you better come see this.” She said with her eyes wide. Nodding I carried the littler ones down and put them onto the floor before looking outside, where the rest of the children were staring. I couldn’t believe it! That kid was crazy! I ran out there to get him back down out of the frost and snow covered tree.

“Elliot Ixavior, get on down here right now!”

“I’m having fun!”

“But its 30 below, it too cold, and you have nothing on!” I pointed out I couldn’t believe this

“I come down later!”

“You come down now!” I was remembering someone telling me about something like this happening to someone else but I couldn’t remember who or where it happened.  The child shook his head stubbornly. I stood thinking for a few minutes. I had no idea how I was going to get him, this was the worse tree that he could have gotten into. I had an idea,

“Darcy, and Tanni, go into his room and take all his costumes out of there and,….”
“NO! DON’T MINE!”

“Well get down here, if you don’t by the time I get to three, the two of them will.” I never even had to start counting, that little boy had got out of that tree as if it were on fire, and into that bedroom. I followed I knew what I wanted to do but it would wait. I headed to him with a set of the warmest clothes that I could find, I picked up back up, and carried him into the bathroom dropped him in the water,

“OW!” The warm water on his cold body was doing that to him.

“You’re the one that went out like you were wild.” Taking him out, once I had seen that he was warm again, after getting him dried. I told him all of the punishment that would be happening. He backed up, disappointed that I hadn’t put his clothing back on him yet. I stood and walked over to where I kept the spoon, he started pleading and begging as soon as he seen me take it down.

“Sorry Elliot, first of all you could have really hurt yourself, that tree’s not strong enough to be climbed on, and it had ice all over it, secondly you were out there without my knowing, third you were out there without your clothes on!, and last of all you disobeyed me by not getting dressed like I told you to earlier.” I looked into his pleading eyes.

“Let’s get this over with.” I told him before giving him five good smacks with the dreaded object.

“Now I want you to get to your room, and I want you in that corner until I come up and tell you otherwise, and if I were you I’d listen.” He nodded and ran off. As I watched him go, I thought to myself, to thank Cubbi if I ever met his older self for the most active cub that could ever be.
