“Darcy, why are you still up?” I asked walking into her personal room; she was sitting at her desk working on something. I took a closer look at it, still unable to understand it, started to question her about it. But seeing her face, I decided against that. Her eyes had dark circles under them and you could tell that she was worn.

“How long has it been since you actually slept?” I had noticed a couple days ago that she was starting to look like this, but really paid no mind, seeing how I’m known for that kind of thing myself.

“Well ah,…

“That’s what I thought,” I told her taking a paper and putting it in the book and closing it. “Go lay down for a little while,” I stopped her before she could protest.

“You can work on it later, Darlita.” I told her helping her into her bed.

“Mamma, its morning already, I have thing to do.”

“Your right, Little One you do. You have to get some rest.” The girl sighed as I walked out.

“Get out of here!” Hearing that, I ran down the halls to the area that I had heard the outburst.

“Timmy, what happened?” I asked seeing him on the floor across from her room.

“I just knocked at the door, and she opened it, and shoved me out!” I had thought she had been in bed. After checking him over, I headed to the room that she was in.

“DARLITA ROSE! I thought I told you to get into that bed and get some rest!” She just stared at me, her eyes still showed how warn she was. I took the book that she had been working with,

“You can have this back when you’ve listened to me.” I told her sternly. Now what was that with your brother?”

“He wouldn’t leave me alone,”

“He said that you answered, and that he knocked first.” She sighed,

“He did.” I pulled her to me.

“What's going on, this isn’t you.” She looked away not talking.

“Come onto your room, do you remember what I told you kids about misbehaving and these personal rooms?”

“If we do something not approved of you’ll lock the door and we won’t be aloud in it for a time.”

“That’s right, and I’m locking yours until tomorrow for the way you treated Timmy, and for disobeying me and going back to the book when I told you to be in that bed.” I told her this as I took the key I had in my pocket, and locking the door tight.

“Now I get yourself into that bed, and stay there at least until noon, got it.” She nodded sighing. I shook my head that was different for me. Darcy was never like that, she was always so sweet. But this wasn’t her at all.

“Mamma, I play now.” I nodded at Melody as she spoke to me, her common was getting better by the day.  At least that’s what I thought anyways.

“Where ever you want Baby.” She grinned as she left her workbooks and took off. She and I had been working on things for sometime, and I knew she needed a break. I shooed her sisters off as well as the other children. I could hear them all playing about the place.

I turned just in time to see Chace starting to head to the kitchen, I called to him,

Chace, you go into that room and there will be trouble.” I knew what he was going after lately he’s figured out how to mess with the stove knobs its one of those that have the knobs on the front instead of in the back. I walked over to him and carried him back to the middle of the room.

“Play with these.” I told him putting several toys in front of him. He looked at them for a time, then started playing with them. Seeing Darcy, up I smiled, she glared at me. I knew she was mad at me still.

“There’s food on in the oven for you, I kept it warm for you Sweetheart.”

“Whatever.”  I sighed at her response.

“Watch your attitude, please.” I didn’t know what to think as she talked like that.
