“Di!”
Chace cried out watching him and Ursa spare. They had
taken the make shift crib into the area they were training in and kept him in
there, while they were using the weapons. But while they were at hand to hand,
they let him out, Ursa thought it would be a good way
for Buddi to learn how to keep an eye on what's around him. He had to laugh as he seen Chace trying to mimic their fighting.
“Ursa look at the
cub.” While she turned, Buddi used it to his advantage and said the same thing
that she’s told him for years.
“Focus
Ursa Focus.” She glared
playfully at him from where she laid on the ground. The baby
to fell on the floor like he was hit.
“I it ‘Sa’” Buddi
stared at the cub, then took off in rage.
“Buddi get back
here, we still have work to do.” Without thinking, Buddi turned and yelled out,
“Then train HIM!” Before he had a chance to walk away, Ursa had stormed over to Buddi
and slapped him a cross his face.
“Don’t you ever
speak to me in that tone.”
“Understood.” He answered rubbing his cheek head looking to
the ground.
“Now, get back over
there so we can train.” Seeing he had no choice Buddi complied. As soon as he
heard the younger cub call Ursa, Buddi stormed over and told the kid to stop
calling her ‘Sa’ that Ursa was HIS ‘Sa’. It was now that Ursa started to
understand what was going on, Buddi was jealous of the toddler. She thought for
a little while, then put the toddler into the crib and told Buddi to go with
her.
“I don’t think so.
Spend time with your NEW cub, HE’S yours now not me.” Buddi’s words cut like a
knife to her heart.
“That’s not true
Buddi.” Buddi didn’t hear what she had said, but ran inside to his room and
locked the door again, and not only that this time but the window as well so
she couldn’t get in for sure.
“If you think that
locking your door is going to keep me out, then your wrong! I’ll just break it
down” Buddi sighed he didn’t doubt it.
“Buddi,”
The cub had already gone back to his bed and turned and faced the wall. He didn’t want to talk to her not yet anyways.
He kept is eyes on everything but Ursa, when she pulled him into her lap. He
didn’t want to hear it. Just when she didn’t think he could be more stubborn,
he proved other wise. Ursa gave up thing
time knowing that she wasn’t getting anywere.
Grubbi chuckled when
she told him what was going on.
“Mother
like son.” Was all he could
say.
“What’s that suppose
to mean?”
“What it means Ursa
is whether or not by blood he still takes after you. As
stubborn as you are when he wants to be.” Ursa glared at that comment,
but answered.]
“He is stubborn, but
there’s no way that he could get it from me.”
“Sure there is,
Buddi’s around you almost all the time, he has been since the day of his
birth. And most likely will for the rest
of his life. Like it or not, he’s Mamma’s Boy.”
“I am not!” Buddi
commented walking into the room himself,
“Are you ready to
listen?” Buddi turned his head way from Ursa and asked Grubbi if he had
anything he could nibble on, he was wanting a snack.
Ursa glared at the elder gummi for giving the cub
what he wanted. She wanted Buddi to talk
to him but wasn’t sure how to get his attention this time. So instead she
watched as he finished the treat, and took off back to his room shutting the
door again. What really hurt Ursa was when it came to bed time, he wouldn’t
even let her in to tell him goodnight like she normally does. Ursa waited until she thought he was a sleep to
sneak she started to talk to him smoothing out his hair. Telling him what he
meant to her and how she was trying not to replace him. That HE was her SON not
Chace,
he could never replace what Buddi had given her. Buddi laid there, his face
turned to the wall, hoping that she didn’t notice that he was awake, and that
he had let the tears come.
