Buddi and Cubbi were having a
playful wrestling match; Ursa watched knowing that was what was going on. She
turned as a four year old ran in, screaming at the top of her lungs. She had to
laugh at the events unfolding.
"Buddi get off my Cubbi!
Leave him alone!" Skyla ran into the pile; the boys stopped, sitting there
stunned, as Skyla pushed Buddi back and climbed onto Cubbi's lap.
"Don't touch!" She
stated, stubbornly folding her arms. Buddi put his hand out to the girl gently,
"I wasn't trying to hurt
him; we were just playing." He told her trying to console her. Cubbi
thanked the little girl and reassured her.
"You come
play with me. You not come, you mean!" She stated as she pulled Cubbi
away.
"Cubbi, you have to play
what I want." She demanded.
~I know now how Sunni feels
when I get like this.~
The boy thought to himself, as Skyla started pulling some of her play
clothes out.
“We going
to play this!" Cubbi's mind started to rush as he looked for a way out of
it.
"I can't do that."
"Why?"
"Cause
I'm a boy that’s why." He answered, starting to get up.
"No you not go anywhere,
I tell my Mamma and she mad now too; she out making Timmy work hard."
"Well, you can tell her
all you want but I'm not doing that, besides I was already doing
something." Cubbi stood up and walked out of the room. Skyla's face turned
red with anger as she charged at Cubbi. Ursa caught a hold of her.
"He's right; he was
playing with someone already."
"He
playing with me!"
"Not right now, go play
with your horse for a bit."
"I don't want to."
"Listen, your mother has
enough on her hands at the moment so I'm in charge. Either you can go play
somewhere else or you can go to bed." Not liking the other choice she
headed off.
"Miss Ursa, I was down
in the woods and I saw this light. I don't know what it is, but it sure was
bright."
"Thanks Darcy." The
girl nodded as she ran to tell me of the light.
"So this is it?"
"I guess so." Ursa
said, letting some emotion show. "Sure has been interesting around
here."
"I'd say. Be sure you
come and visit here once in awhile."
"We will. I want to see
how the Barbics in this time all turn out. Besides you'll
need more help in getting that one up there to straighten up." I
nodded before the three started to head to their way home, as Ursa stepped in,
we all got a shock,
"NO DON'T GO! PLEASE
DON'T GO!" Everyone stopped in their tracks with their mouths dropped; no
one ever expected her to speak before; in fact we didn't know she could.
"Shanda!" we all
said, still in shock.
"I don't want you to
go." She said, tears rolling down her face. I had to unwind her hands from
Ursa before I could pick her up so they could go.
"They have to for now
but they'll be back."
On they way back to the house,
I had to praise Shanda again for her speaking. That little girl talked as much
as she could after all the tears had dried. Not one of us cared. We all thought
it was wonderful.
