"Mummumm" I heard Chase cry out as I woke that morning. He was bouncing as hard as he could in his crib. The blasted thing was knocking against the wall! I sighed and walked over to him.

"What?" I asked as I picked him up. He nestled into me as he fussed a bit.

"Are we in a mood this morning?" I asked trying to get my normally happy-from-the-word-go son to play. He just squealed and batted my hand away, angry at me.

"What’s wrong, Baby?" That’s when I felt the teeth of my infant sink into my shoulder.

"Ouch!" I pulled him back and looked at him sternly.

"What was that for? Not nice Chase, you hurt me!" I scolded as I put him back into the crib and left him in the room alone. Cranky or not, he wasn't going to do that. I wanted him to know that.

When I walked into the kitchen I had the shock of my life, or should I say the fright? The entire kitchen was covered with everything you could think of. And in the middle of the room were three little girls without any help about trying to use the stove. After the initial shock I stormed over to them, only to stop to grab the wooden spoon. I turned each over one over my knee using the object on them. Making sure, I had their attention, I spoke,

"That was for using that stove without someone around!" I told them sternly as I could, then started to lecture them. "What do you think you girls are doing? You could have gotten burnt or you could have caught the whole house on fire!" All three stood, handing their heads.

"Where’s Darcy?"

"In bed still." Skyla answered slowly.

"Then why are you using the stove? Are we permitted to do that?" They all shook their heads.

"Then why'd you do it?" No answer.

"Well?" Not one answered.

"Alright, all three of you are stuck in the corners of your room until I say otherwise. None of you are to come out of there without permission. Understood?" The three nodded.

"By the way, you three are no longer permitted out of bed without me or Darlita being up first, is that understood?"

"What about Timmy?" I turned to Kenya.

"Timmy has not gotten himself into trouble now has he?"

"No,"

"That’s the what about Timmy. He doesn't have to worry about it unless he does what you three did." I told her as I sent them off to their room with an extra swat to get them moving.

"Ouch! Don't do that, we’re going!" Kenya snapped at me as she headed off.

"I can do it again, Kenya Elsa!" That made her run up that ladder a little faster. This is NOT how I wanted to start the day.

I told Darlita that I was going off for a little bit, and would be back after while. She nodded as I took off out the door. I headed to my secret spot. Not one of the children knew I had this place. They did have a horn back at the house that they could use if there was a problem I would hear it and come running.

I fell to my knees and started into a deep prayer, asking My Father for guidance with these children and asking to make me more calm with things. I need his help; I still don't know what I'm doing right or wrong. I do try to teach them about my faith.

"Father, I even read your word to them for bed every night, and have them pray at meals, what else is there for me to do?" I sat silence for a bit, knowing that he doesn't always answer right off the bat sometimes the answer comes to you in the mist of things, and sometimes he does it right when you need it the most. After at least another good hour, I stood and headed home.

I was sure that I had done the right thing.

"Mamma, I have lunch finished for you."

"Thanks Darcy; You’re such a great help." The girl beamed. "After lunch, you can go play if you'd like." She nodded, then called for her sisters. Not one of them made a sound. Wondering, I headed up to see what was going on. They were still standing there but all giving me the silent treatment.

"Go on and eat."

"Alright, if you want to be like that then go ahead, you just miss out. And there will be nothing to eat until dinner." Shanda was the first to move slowly but never made a sound. Then Skyla. Kenya stood still where she was.

"Come on" I called to her. She just shook her head no.

" Go on girls, let her be like that if she wants." I told them.

After lunch, I released the two girls and told them they could go out, but they were still confined to the yard and couldn't wander off, and that their pets were off limits as well.

"Here you go Bliss,” I told her, putting her on her sheep toy. I had to laugh at the sight of Chase pushing the toy with her sitting there. He sure was trying hard to walk anymore. I take it his legs were getting tired of rubbing against the floor. Both babies laughed as they played together. I looked up to see Shanda chasing Skyla around the yard. I guessed it was a game of tag or something. I turned to look at the set of twins that had just turned three months. Rei was grinning at me. I grinned back. Both were content in their swing. I tried giving each their own but they didn't like that; they wanted to be together. If you sat and watched the two of them long enough you'd think that they were having their own little talk. I reached over and picked Rei up; she started to cry as I took her from her spot. I quickly put her back as soon as I did Scarlet started to suck on Rei's nose. I started to laugh as hard as I could; they did this type of thing a lot, like it was some comfort thing. Strange if you ask me though. I didn't mind it much.

Looking into the sky, I noted it was getting late; bedtime for all was drawing near. Kenya still had refused to eat, so I had already sent her onto bed. Man that girl's sweet, but when she sets her mind to something there’s nothing that can change it! She’s stubborn! I called to the others, telling them what was going on. Although there were the few complaints,  they still headed in. Nothing would have prepared me for the next few days that were ahead of me.
