| Stage One ~ baby is 4-6 mos old ~vary flavours so baby won't reject new foods later ~ paste-like or puree consistency foods because baby cannot chew ~ small quantity as milk is still major food source ~ be aware of potential allergenicity Stage Two ~ baby is 6 - 9 mos old ~ offer textured food, soft lumps and finger foods ~ encourage chewing ~ progress to 3 meals per day Stage Three ~ 9 mos onward ~ give foods from all 4 food groups ~ baby has teeth so you can give chopped or minced foods ~ baby should be eating 3 meals per day |
