FEBRUARY 6, 2005 - - - IMPERIAL GUARD - VS - TAU (1850pt Standard Battle)
So, Rematch time....  only hours after his first battle, Shaun was ready to go again.  This time we would change the Tau commander up and give the stick to Ninny, who had never played the Tau before.  At least trying to even the playing field out a little bit would be great, also Shaun won the right for the first turn.... again!  (That Damned beginner's luck).  The Imperials were more fierce this time.  Their shots on target, Their armor more resilent, and thier morale more firm. The Tau warriors were failling all over the battlefield and it appeared as if they would be driven back by the hammer of the Emporer.  However, the Tau stood firm and used cunning tactics to carefully choose thier targets.  The Imperial Guard were holding their lines however, but failed to realize the closing handful of Kroot that were left, who started to cut up the flank of the Imperial line.  They were able to slay the Senior officer and take down some heavy weapons teams.... also driving the troops focus to them.... and making them succumb to the deadly firepower of the Fire Caste.  A close one...and a good one.

FEBRUARY 6, 2005 - - - IMPERIAL GUARD - VS - TAU (1850pt Standard Battle)
So, Now that Isaiah is beginning to understand the world of 40k, it is time to move on to another new commander.  Soon to be yet another Imperial Guard player in our group, Shaun has decided to start playing regularly while collecting an army of his own.  Back to the burnt our Standard Mission battles ; ; but teaching a new player is worth the time.  On to the battle, which was pretty one sided the entire game.  The Tau struck quick and precise and were able to minimize thier own casualties while picking off guardsman after guardsman.  And the powerful tanks of the Imperial legions could not withstand the rending Rail guns from the alien forces.  Better luck next time Shaun.

JANUARY 29, 2005 - - - IMPERIAL GUARD - VS - TAU (1850pt Standard Battle)
So, did you think Isaiah's cram week was over? Not quite.  What is another great experience for a new player? The rare opportunity to play against another rookie.  This time he would face off against a 1 game veteran in the form of Christina!  Isaiah's rookie luck was able to give the him first turn in all games so far, but what he didn't forsee was that Christina's even noobier luck would prevail this time and grant her Tau initiative.  The Tau struck first, fast, and hard killing many guardsmen, destroying a Leman Russ, and cripping another Russ tank. This blow caused the Imperium to studder in it's first action and they were not able to kill what they would've wished to kill.  This inability to get started would haunt them the rest of the game by giving the Tau a firepower superiority and in the game of shooty armies, the one with the most guns wins!  Tau victory

JANUARY 28, 2005 - - - IMPERIAL GUARD - VS - NECRONS  (1850pt Standard Battle)
Its good to learn from the master  =)  but sometimes even the greatest generals need to experience varying tactics on the battlefield.  Isaiah, still on his learning quest would face off against an opponent besides Keith for the first time in this battle. He would also be at the command of a new army.  Ninny, a 2 year 40k veteran would also play the IG for the first time so maybe we would see if his experience would help him master this new foe.  The Necrons receieved the first turn (another one for Isaiah by the way) and did well in cutting down guardsmen with the deadly gauss weapons carried by Necron destroyers.  It was looking grim for the Imperium but they stood firm and fired back.  Despite the dauntless Necron endurance, the Imperial firepower hit well and the experience of thier leader was able to grasp the whim of battle.  Many turns later, the presence of the Necron forces were considerably reduced and forced to phase out to their hidden tombs.

Necrons (Isaiah) - 934
JANUARY 27, 2005 - - - IMPERIAL GUARD - VS - TAU  (1850pt Standard Battle)
To switch the past couple of battles around a little, this time Isaiah would take the helm of the Imperial Guard and Keith at the head of the Tau forces.  Isaiah's beginner's luck prevailed again as he recieved the first turn. (A deadly feat when involving shooty armies).  The Tau surprised the veteran commander by taking out many guardsmen in the first turn. It was looking grim for the Tau after the first couple of turns. However, a very important skill in commanding armies is shot selection. A few well placed shots from the Tau forces caused the Imperium's finest to rethink the status of the battle and many men ran for thier lives. The Tau used this opportunity to sieze the battle and turn it around viciously in thier favor.  (Pictures)

JANUARY 26, 2005 - - - CHAOS - VS - TAU  (1850pt Standard Battle)
As Isaiah learns the ropes of 40k, sometimes it's too easy to be mean. This battle would be very one-sided.  Although the shooty Tau got the first turn, the forces of Khorne were fast and enduring. Charging through the relentless shots of pulse rifles and railguns, the berserkers met their foe deep in the battlefield and sliiced Kroot, Fire Warrior, and Battlesuit up alike. Showing no mercy for thier quest of blood., the forces of Khorne left no alien standing. (Pictures)

JANUARY 21, 2005 - - - IMPERIAL GUARD - VS - TAU  (1850pt Standard Battle)
In the first game of 2005, Isaiah's Tau would face off against Keith's Imperial Guard army.  ForIsaiah's limited experience in the game, the Tau did VERY well at the beginning of the battle. The Fire Warriors were taking out guardsmen in a timely manner. On the verge of having no hope, the Imperial troops held on and were able to take the majority of the heavy weapons in the Tau army leaving them depending on thier small arms fire. Although Tau "small arms" are very formidable, the absence of Rail Guns and the like gave the Imperial tanks battlefield superiority and the heavy weapons of the tanks and infantry were able to concentrate on the Fire Warriors and Crisis Battlesuits, winning the battle by forcing the Tau into ceding the game.

JANUARY 21, 2005 - - - IMPERIAL GUARD - VS - TYRANIDS  (1850pt Standard Battle)
Ninny's Hive Fleet had never seen the field of battle before this day. And eager to see how his IG would face off against Tyranids, Keith was long awaiting this battle. The Tyranid forces were very strong in number but not well equipped because of Ninny's inexperience in this army. The 'nids charged forth but were met by heavy imperial fire and never quite made it to the enemy before being cut down.  Incredible power unleashed from the Venom Cannons of the Carnifex and Hive Tyrant were able to destroy some imperial tanks however.  I fear the next Imperial - Tyranid meeting will be different from this one.    (Pictures)
