"Mom, the soft voice pleadingly said, "Um," Mom replied, without turning her head. Mom was busy; what a day she'd had! So feeling dejected, he went looking for Dad, But Dad was busy working on his car. "Here, Skip!": He always came no matter how far, Tail wagging and whinning for a pat and a treat. Dog and boy went strolling down the street.
While Mom and Dad were too busy to hear The two-some went in search of a listening ear. Later that day, Mom thought, "Where is my son? Look at his room and the chores left undone." It still didn't occur to Mom or to Dad That they had ignored their pleading little lad.
Years later in the courtroom they sat so grim. These memories rushed in as they sadly looked at him. (No time for him then, but look at us know. We'll get through the trial, some way, some how.) "We hear you son. Please tell us anew; Your crime is terrible, but what can we do?"
Their listening came too late to avoid the shame. Son had listened to others and smeared their good name. They wished for simpler times when he was a boy-- Such a cute little fellow and brought them so much joy. Their lives were busy, but they found the time today To hear the verdict "Guilty" and they took him away.
Sure, life if busy and full of lots of to-do. But find the time to listen, to give a hug or two. Twenty-four hours still make up a day. Put first things first. You'll find a way. When life has ended and all's said and done, You can look back in peace and feel you have won.
Now! Listen up! To the voice you need to hear! When God speaks, heed Him. Give Him your ear. He may speak through a child, a sunset or a bird, And He always speaks clearly from His written Holy Word.. Don't be like Mom and Dad who heard too late. Listen right now. Don't be a victim of fate.
