A NEW DISCOVERY

As I've already explained, I live with my mom, one brother, two
sisters and three mom's humans. Now let me tell you where.
Actually I wouldn't know where exactelly. It was in the middle
of the grass field, high hills all around. I've never been on
those hills. Not that I would not want to. As happened I never
managed to pass beyond the first forest trees that were some
seventyfive meters away from our houses.
As humans, so did we live in a house. Human's house was bigger
though. I cannot tell you what it was like inside, but I can tell
you our house was a comfortable kennel and it smelled like mom.
It was just big enough for the five of us, even though it grew
tighter as the four of us became larger. Mom stopped getting
larger few years ago. She didn't say how many.
Dogs stop getting bigger when they are fully grown, she said one
sunny day while leading us four to the yard fence.
"You can wander to here...further you must never go without me!",
she said and then took us all around the fence and around the two
trees that stood in the middle of the yard and then back to the
kennel.
"Was I clear?", she asked. Somehow I managed to overhear just about
everything from the moment I discovered a hole under the fence on.
I sniffed all around it too. My head was filled with plans of a trip
behind the fence. Forbidden one of course. Just me and the wide world.
For days I waited and explored, waiting for the right moment to slip
away.
It was just after dinner. Everybody, humans and us, had a lie-down on
the garden. They were all napping. I seazed the opportunity and slid
slowly toward the hole. I reached it unnoticed and managed to crawl
under it despite few minor problems. Once through, I run. Straight
forward. Until a strong smell stopped me. An unknown smell. In front
of me, on the left. I sniffled the air and slowly moved forward.
And then I saw it! The animal! Smaller then me, but not less
frightening because of that. It was grey, spikes all around and it
panted really loud. It stood there motionless, looking straight at
me and I stared back. Suddenly I didn't feel so brave anymore. As
fast as possible I ran back to the hole and slid under it.
I continued to run until I came to my sleeping mom. I burried
myself in her furr. In my head I heard her voice saying I musn't
pass the fence alone. Now I knew why.
