That's me on the photo. Shay. When I was still little. My manness
(author edit: i realize manness is not a word but so is not the
one i used in my own language. So deal with it ;D ) says I looked
like Bob then. Fortunatelly she didn't name me that. That would be
most humiliating. Like naming me Darling. Or Boris.
Can you even imagine traumatizing moments outside, on a walk, when
she would call me Bob in front of all other dogs. Or Darling. Or
Boris. Brrr....
But let me start at the begining. First, there was darkness. And it
was tight. But warm and cosy. It did not last long though. Before I
knew what was going on, a men dragged me out from that warmth onto the
air and light and countless odours. First i felt quite miserable. Then
I got something into my mouth that this soft thing besides me called
a teat and introduced itself as mom. I felt better. Something called
mom cannot be bad, I though, and the teat was most wonderful. Full of
delicious milk. When i could suck no longer I felt even better. Then
mom licked me all over and I was sure it can't get any better. Until
I fell asleep.
When I awoke, my first thought was the teat. And mom. I could smell
her right besides me and the teat was really close too. And just
when I wanted to grab it, somebody insinuated itself onto it!
Somebody I recalled from the darkness. And it took MY TEAT! I
remember feeling quite agitated, almost angry. I bit it's ear.
As strong as I could without the teeth. And then I bit it again.
I also poked it in the eye with my paw. And that was enough
for the intruder to release my teat. He slobbered all over it
baddly but all that was forgotten as soon as sweet milk poured
out. That was my favorite teat. The second one on the top. Quite
remarkable you know....six teats. Still, the first one was the
best.
I also established that mom can talk. And knows a lot.
So I asked her:"Who took my teat?"
My mom had nice voice. A deep one. She licked my head and
explained that I was not alone. She was mom to three other as
cute as me. I did not quite believe that. If only I could have
seen. That was when it struck me. I could not see a thing!
"Mom, I'm blind!", I cried out.
She just laughed and told me that non of us, dogs, can see for
the first few days. That some openings on my head she called
eyes will open later on. And then I will be able to see everything.
Her, the teat, and the other three. A brother and two sisters. She
kept talking on about many other things I will be able to see. Her
voice soon became just a pleasant sound. I fell asleep with the teat
in my mouth.
