The purpose of this website is to provide an organized portal for the retrieval of governmental and academic information on the World Wide Web relating to the topic of seismicity in the state of Washington.

Included in this site is a page of seismic history, listing some of the most significant earthquakes in Washington's history according to magnitude, intensity, or its influence on seismology or seismometry, and links to more in-depth information relating to each event.

On the terms and definitions page one can access definitions to help better navigate this site and the information herein.  The second intention of this page is to provide the searcher with related topics and terminology relating to off-shoots of seismicity.

"Measuring Earthquakes" discusses the current practice of using the Richter Magnitude Scale, the Modified Mercalli Intensity Scale, and the Moment Magnitude Scale as methods of measuring earthquakes.  Included on this page are several links to governmental and academic sites relating to earthquake measurements.

The contacts page provides street addresses, phone numbers, fax numbers, e-mail addresses, website URLs, and names for every institution and agency referenced throughout the rest of this site.  They are arranged alphabetically by institution or agency.

"Faults and Plates" lists the most important tectonic features of Washington with links to more in-depth information.

"Research Process" is a paper written about the creation of this site and includes information on evaluation of sources, format decisions, etc.
